Hrumph!!! And I thought Karic had found his place this year as a big blocking TE. Maybe a mid-major OT spot is in his future?
I wish no ill on any of these guys. I hope they have good football careers. For some, it makes sense. For some, they may find out it’s also tough to hold down a starting position at La Tech, Fresno State, Texas A&M, Rutgers, or some other football program on that level.
Very disappointing in Karic. He had some quality blocks at TE/WB. Really the only OL we had who could trap successfully.
It would be cool if just once a recruit would say... "In a spur of the moment decision over a plate of Buffalo wings and Big Red, I'mma jus jump in the portal and see what happens. #HatersGonnaHate"
LC I completely agree. I’m getting to the point that I’m tired of the “so thankful’ and always bleed whatever but I’m leaving. Just say you’re leaving - adios. Obviously things aren’t rosy for whatever reason.
I don't think it's always a case of things not being rosy. Kids mature at a different rate. You can be a one or two star (or no star) out of high school, but a little growth spurt or whatever can vault you to the next level. I'm sure some who excel at places like Austin Peay (and I'm just using that as an example, not singling out that player) think they can now excel at at a place like Texas or LSU etc. Maybe it works out for them, maybe it doesn't. But can blame a kid for trying. I can't help but wonder how many get "recruited" while at their existing schools? That's the unknown. And let's face it, not all coaches or schools have integrity. Not going to mention any specific names (Auburn).
Maalik knows he’s one play away from being the starter. If he continues to develop and learn the system, sark won’t hesitate to pull ewers in games that aren’t going well. At least I hope he will.
I hope our staff takes a hard look at this player. Edge/DE will now be a position of need. Dorbah is leaving. Sorrell is a stud--1st team all conference next year probably. The other side, however, is wide open with a bunch of current Freshman (including Burke) plus Finkley and a few others fighting it out. Nobody is really proven as a top notch college-gameday talent at Edge other than Sorrell. We should take a good look. IMHO.
