Why wasn't the governor's race close, and why wouldn't they go after that? Democrats would love to put Stacey Abrams in the governor's mansion.

Two points on this. First, yes, Trump hurt the candidates by encouraging people not to vote and massively boosting the motivation of Democrats. Second, you seem to assume that RINOs are the only alternative to Trump candidates. They aren't. Personally, I've not voted for the GOP nominee for president twice - Donald Trump in 2016 and John McCain in 2008. That should tell you something.

It was a lot of people's fault.

This is what he said. I'll let everybody decide for themselves what he's calling for and whether it's an intelligent thing to say.

I have a pretty good idea. First, we have very broad mail-in balloting in some states (and in some cases, have had it for a long time, like in Georgia), so every Tom, Dick, Harry, and Hairy Dick is voting. Democrats have massively exploited that in the last 4 years, while we have been on the sidelines. That hurts. Second, in several swing states, we have nominated candidates with the narrowest appeal. We're trying to pull off the 50 percent-plus-1 victory. The Toms and the Harrys are still voting for them, but the Dicks and the Hairy Dicks definitely are not. Their wives aren't either. It's enough to lose.

And if we had done it in New Hampshire and Arizona, it would be 52-48. (I left Pennsylvania off the list, because though Oz was a crummy candidate, with the catastrophically bad gubernatorial candidate, I don't think even a better candidate would have won in PA.)

It is clearly the fault of the Republicans who run the state government. Even when they win they are ineffectual in many areas. It is why I am not a Republican. Same reason I don't pull for the Washington Generals.

It is also the fault of the Republicans for allowing Walker to be the candidate for Senate. Very bad idea.

@Garmel , don't just say you disagree. Kick that girl and her mom out of your bed and explain what part and why.

So another argument between us that lasts for days where you and I don't back down from our stances? Not really sure I want to waste my time like that.

Yet, we keep losing the close elections whether it's MAGA or not across the country. Usually after 1-2 week marathon sessions with the math in our favor and Vegas betting on the republicans.

See, they could easily prove people like me wrong and shut me up tomorrow if they would be transparent with elections. They won't do that so you have to ask yourself why not.

If DeSantis runs and locks in AZ and GA plus NC, IA, and OH (red-leaning states), I think he only needs to win NV or WI to win the presidency (or maybe not with the new Electoral College map). Anyway, it seems like a slam dunk.

I was wondering what kind of imbecile would give an unqualified Senate run endorsement to a child abandoning, domestic partner abusing former football player who has trouble projecting intelligence and competence during TV interviews. Imagine my surprise at learning the endorser is not only not an imbecile...but is in fact a mentally stable genius. Guess he's playing chess while I'm playing checkers.

I don't think there's any question that the mail-in voting is having an impact. There are more voters who are more difficult for the GOP to reach, and they are helping Democrats in close races. Garmel isn't wrong about that, but it's worth asking why, at least in Georgia and Arizona, it only seems to decisively harm Trump-oriented candidates. Why are their races the "close races," while Republicans running with the exact same electorate don't seem to struggle. Large numbers are sticking with the GOP - except for these candidates. By the way, I despise mail-in voting, but I don't see a way to dump it.

At times, I honestly wonder if he's working for the Democrats. Some of his endorsees are better than others, but the ones that are bad are horrifically bad and seem to be in areas where the GOP needs its best candidates to win. And of course, some of his comments really screw our momentum. For example, the Twitter files dropped a few days ago - very damning of Democrats, but then Trump mouths off online about the termination of all rules including those in the Constitution. And of course, that became the story.

If the establishment would give MAGA a level playing field with the same amount of money they give other candidates without the constant bashing of MAGA from these establishment clowns and see what happens. Walker was outspent 150 million to 38 million in the runoff. You had establishment types stupidly bashing Trump over a nothingburger comment that he made about the Constitution right before the runoff. You can't sabotage MAGA and claim MAGA can't win in the same sentence or you will get a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I read the comment. It wasn't a nothingburger. It was Trump stepping on his own dick again.

Dude needs to peacefully fade away from politics.

It was a nothingburger. He basically said if there's fraud the Constitutional process is annulled and he deserves another election. Now, the Constitution has nothing on election fraud so he's probably wrong although I belive if it happened during the Founding Father's time they might have agreed with Trump. WTF cares?

If you think what he said is actually as bad or worse than what the dems/government did in the 2020 election then you are wrong.

He probably meant to say what you said. But as usual, he was completely unable to articulate that thought artfully.

His inability to frame an argument in something more elevated than New York City street brash is his political undoing.

Yes, he's not articulate. That's a problem that he has. There's a hypothesis out there that he has dyslexia and that could be true.

I sympathize with Trump because I seem to have many of the same problems he does. I'm not articulate and many of you can tell my writing is disjointed with tons of grammatical errors. It's even worse in person. Yet, I can do calculus, accounting, and advanced statistics with ease. I've never understood that.

I wish the man was as eloquent and reassuring as Reagan, but he just isn't. What say we Republican types find a candidate who can elegantly articulate policies like Trump's.

I suggest we start the search in Florida.

I'd like to ask McLaughlin about all of those House candidates that were loved and approved by the establishment that lost. We failed badly on the national scale and we can't put the House fiasco on Trump.

Yeah. I think he owes one to the mentally stable genius for endorsing his general election opponent in the Republican Primary, but Deez has opined that Pennsylvania would have voted Democrat even if Fetterman hadn't faced a candidate with questionable Pennsylvania residency and a lot of political baggage.

Can you say all those things about a black person who has (D) after his name?

Example: Saying Obama's ideas or policies on something were stupid was called racist. But, we can say all this about Herschel Walker?

Oz didn't pull a weapon on a black man that didn't commit a crime either.

One candidate was intelligent and actually brought some great ideas to the debate. The other introduced himself in his opening statement then said goodnight.

You're going to have to do better than **** like that before you can preach to others about poor candidates

I think I'm a decent writer, and I've never noticed this to be true. I'm sure I could find grammatical errors in your writing just as I'm sure people could find them in mine, but I've never seen anything that grabbed my attention. You pretty much write like a reasonably intelligent adult. There are journalists at the New York Times who don't write as well as you do. Of course, that isn't much of a compliment anymore.
