That is correct. He was a young assistant recruiter for us a few years ago. Was responsible for the resurgence in DFW recruiting for us after years of failure there.

    Ah yes!

All new coaching candidates must bring their wife or girlfriend to the interview, where she will be interviewed in a separate room. Then both perspective coach and wife/girlfriend will be taken out that evening and pumped full of alcoholic drinks, and closely observed. Or maybe we could just look for Mormon coaches.

In all seriousness, a deep background check(s) of both coach and spouse/girlfriend should be done for any candidate before an offer is made. A good PI can find out a lot of interesting stuff about people...

You bring up a good point. Were there signs of previous problem with Beard and his girlffiend?
We certainly knew Sark's issues ( which by the way, What a Credit to him to have overcome)

Yeah really. He's battled back from a real low, and has stayed on the wagon for many years.:clap::clap::clap::clap:

I’m not aware of any problems between Beard & Trew prior to the December 2022 incident. I know that Beard & his ex-wife aren’t big fans of each other, but I’ve never heard a peep about any sort of physical abuse from that relationship either.
But just to be safe, better not poach from Tech.

Good point. If these issues were known when he was hired, what was the justification for firing Beard?

Maybe Kingsbury would take the job.

We probably need to send CdC a Batshit Crazy Checklist to be completed on both the coach and the partner.

This sentence caught my eye, "However, Kingsbury's tenure with the Cardinals was marred by late-season drop-offs, underachieving and four years of undisciplined football."

That describes his tenure at Tceh also. Arizona didn't look at his tendencies at Tceh? He was hired because crybaby wanted him to be his coach.

What is wrong with you people? You really want Kingsbury anywhere near our program? Please wakeup and study his history particularly in Lubbock. In recent years, we have survived mutiny during games, locker room division, major interference from malcontent professors and outside agitators. Y'all want to add to all this Kliff Kingsbury?

Besides how are you planning to get Coach Zipper to Travis County? Not even Southwest can handle that much baggage. Maybe Musk will lease y'all 50-60 acres of his property east of Austin as a storage lot.

Interesting, since Marvin Mimms has declared for the draft. That leaves Jones without a #1 receiver. However he is a good coach so he can probably coach them up to score a TD against Texas. :ousucks:

Mississippi State hires Kevin Barbay (App. State OC) as the slobbering Pirate Bulldogs' new OC. Look for Miss State to continue their Leach tradition of (mostly) a high flying offense. Barbay is one of the picks of the litter for OCs. Miss State got a steal.

Has anybody explained to him that his players in Lubbock have to go to class? He can't have any of that Third Ward playing three years = 9 hours credit toward a degree

Barbay comes from a family of Southeast Texas HS coaches. Pretty successful group.
