    Watch out now.
Sark is the one that called that play. :D

    Vol,

Lest anyone forget, I firmly believe that the defense called on that play would have given up "the yard" plus some was it not for Brian recognizing the formation, breaking his assignment and tripping White until help arrived

He was also running against a defense with seven — yes, 7 — future NFL starters. But to be fair, and as Michael Griffin said, they had no answer for #21 for most of the game. He averaged 6.2 YPC.

Also, remember Reggie Bush was on the sidelines. That freed up a LB to play closer to the LoS which meant the SC OL had to account for that move.

The announcers said that if the Titans punter has an average day today, his average of 53 yards per punt will break the all time season punt average set by Sammy Baugh in 1940. That Baugh’s record would last this long surprises me given how we tend to think of football players getting bigger, stronger, faster as the years go by. . . . The punter’s first punt today went 59 yards.

Many believe that Pete Carroll has made two catastrophic calls in huge games in his career, the 4th down White carry without Bush, and we all know the other one.

    Sark made the call.
    I guess Pete approved it.

I'd say it has a lot to do with punting to pin the opponent. Put enough well-placed 30 yard punts in your average, and no way you'll wind up with a 50+ yard average for the season, but you will have been very valuable to your team.

With the switch in philosophy to go for it on 4th down more often when you're near the midfield stripe or so, and to punt mostly when pinned back in your own territory, it gives the punter a much greater chance to kick 50+ yarders every time - or at least often enough to seriously affect the seasonal average.

    Moon,

Sark probably did make the call, but it was the logical choice. We had not stopped White on that play all day, AND had our coaches been listened to, we would not have stopped it this time.

Ask Brian about that play and our coaches' defensive call. Had Brian not recognized the formation and "adjusted", USC has a first down and the game.

Good game so far in 26 degree weather in Green Bay between the Lions and Packers. The Lions have nothing to play for except to keep the Packers from making the playoffs (plus, if the Lions win, they have a winning season). The Lions just scored after a long pass to the one and lead 13-9 in the third. Last game of the regular season.

I bet Sark called for Reggie Bush to lateral the ball to our player. Sark’s always liked the Longhorns.

Final: Lions win 20-16. Aaron Rogers can begin his Panchakarma "Cleanse." Do not Google it if you are about to eat

After the game, watching Aaron Rodgers exit the field I don't think he'll be back next year. Rodgers only appeared in one Super Bowl which was in 2010 and won. That was one of the best if not THE beast seasons in his career. He was also the Super Bowl MVP in the only Super Bowl he played in. But we'll see what happens in the off season.

A long history of playing up or down to the level of their competition, going back to the Landry era--actually especially during the Landry era. They'd often do just enough to get the W.

The entire Cowboy organization should be embarrassed by what ran out on the field against the Redskins. If they wanted to throw the game, all they had to do is run the scrubs out on the field.

Dak has regressed over the past 5 games. Maybe he is color blind, and whoever is supposed to tell him which color jersey to has been fired by Jerrah.

McCaffrey, Samuel, Kittle, Aiyuk. . . and Purdy. SF is stacked at the offensive skill positions. Seattle down by 10 early—gonna have to score a bunch today to keep up. . . . Seattle scores after long drive. 10-7 . . . SF drives for FG. Seattle scores on long TD pass to Metcalf and takes the lead 14-13.

Charles Omenihu :hookem: just sacked Geno Smith and caused a fumble. Teammate falls on the ball and ends a promising Seattle drive.

SF blowing the doors off in second half. 41-17 with 5 minutes to go. Seattle is scoreless in second half. Too many mistakes..

I'm probably wrong but... Reggie bush on the field wouldn't have drawn any attention on 4th and 1, with LenDale lined up at tb. 4th and 3 or longer, sure. But they weren't about to throw or run a reverse

Chargers, thanks in large part to 3 interceptions, are up 24-0 over Jags half way through the second quarter . . . make that 4 picks now, 3 of them by Asante Samuel.

4th and 1, and Jags get a big run to the 15. They can win it with a FG now.

Jacksonville for the win, 36 yard FG in the last 3 seconds.
