Forgive me if there is another thread or dialogue already established on this. I know there was a small leak or rumors out of a particular program couple weeks back, but I, for one, have seen nothing definitive or official. Still nothing definitive or official to my knowledge, but stumbled on this piece that lets a bit of the cat out of the bag and mentions the Horns. If anyone knows more or official schedules are released, and there isn't already a thread...Please post here... From Houston... Houston football determined to keep playing home games on campus Highlights: "UH will play seven home games this season, five during Big 12 play, according to a person who has seen the schedule. That includes non-conference games against UTSA and Sam Houston and five Big 12 games, among them TCU (Sept. 16) and Texas (Oct. 21)." ...OOPs!
And here is the non-conference schedule for anyone who doesn't already know... Sept. 2 vs Rice Sept. 9 at Alabama Sept. 16 vs Wyoming
Hopefully this time, Third Ward won't sell 25,000 tickets for 8,000 seats. I have voiced my opinion and it will NOT change. Tell the Big XII to kiss our ***. We aren't playing any of their ****** little city schools and certainly not in their "bandbox".
Some of you don't remember what Sabre is talking about. The last time UT visited that HS stadium @ Cougar High and how our fans were treated like crap. You paid for seats - NO seats for you when u arrive!!? F 'em!
Third Ward under the direction of that lying sack of **** Gladchuk sold the same seats to three different people including their season ticket holders seats. As I told Gladchuk (now AD at The Naval Academy), he is such a sorry excuse for a human being that I'd be ashamed to introduce him to my neighbor's dog as a representative of the species. This is a guy who begged one of his best friends to do him a favor & get his sprry *** out of a problem in return for which Gladchuk would give him a job he wanted the next season. His friend did what was asked and Gladchuk not only **** on him, he hasn't spoken to him in the 20+ years since.
My hope/desire was/is that we NEVER play cougar high again. We have nothing to gain by doing so. And my old 3A (now 4A) HS stadium is superior to cougar high's fire marshal condemned POS.
Jeppesen Stadium is the proverbial "pig". No matter how many coats of lipstick you put on it, it's still a pig, but more importantly still in the middle of the Third Ward. If they won't move to NRG or Rice, how about the Berry Center or Katy? No seats but embarrassing in a comical sort of way.
It is the Big XII and Texas. If the Big XII could, they would find a pee wee field in the Third Ward for the game. CdC is not in a position of strength.
Apparently it's a conference game. Don't know how much he can demamd, but I believe it's worth a good 2 yr old's tantrum with threats to leave this stupid stinking conference.
The Big 12 may set schedules for home and away. What right do they have to dictate what stadium? Teams in the past moved games from smaller venues to larger stadiums due to anticipated demand for more seats!?
Conference sets dates & cities but I don't think it controls venues. That defaults to home team...some reasonably want larger crowds & more revenue. Others (read u.h.) realizing the larger crowds means more Longhorns opt for the smaller, shittier venue 'cause they can.
I actually enjoyed going to that game.Houston gave us a fight but we won. DJ was tough. Redding was as well. Grass stains, humidity, sweat. If you can get a seat, it’s nice to be near the action. There was some construction problems as I recall. Reliant is like a theatre. Boring. But the Coogs throttled the Gooners there. If we get beat —I hope the excuse isn’t we played in too small of a venue and our “student” athletes couldn’t get inspired.
Some of you pretend like TDECU hasn't been renovated like 5 times since we played there 22 years ago. Its newest iteration won the AIA award for best large build project. And this is coming from someone who thinks we'd all be better off if the city of Houston kind of floated away.
It's not just the stadium I find objectionable (truth=I've never been. I've only watched UT vs. u.h. live @ the Astrodome). Main problem I have is cougar high's history/culture of cheap shots. I was happy they joined the old SWC; then was even happier to leave them in the dust. I only know their on-campus stadium from what I've read which was further example of their cheap shot culture.
True they have tried to make some improvements to Jeppesen Stadium, but it is still in a horrible location. Ken Lay set out to make significant changes to the campus and was successful in eradicating much of the blight along the Gulf Freeway. NO ONE wants to be around there after dark. Face it, the wealthy oil families abandoned Riverside to move to River Oaks; Houston Country Club moved out on Woodway; Schlumberger moved away. University of Houston is the only thing that remains over there. Finger Furniture and the motels shut down. EaDo hasn't changed Third Ward. Only good news is that it seems most of the gang activity has moved South toward 610. We can't talk much about diversity when 19% of our students are Asian, but UH accepts damn near every application from a foreign country. They admitted a bunch of Middle Eastern students, accepted their room deposits and had NO WHERE for them to live. UH's solution? Lease an old Allison-Walker atrium office building at Broadway & Bellfort - restrooms? yes; showers? no; food? no. After protests, the administration began running shuttle buses to & from campus. Try as they may, Third Ward can never seem to change their old ways or ways of thinking. Jeppesen has been improved several times, but it's still the same location with **** management.

TCU gets two of the new and misses two. Makes sense. Gives them the new Texas-based one. Also makes sense.
Well horse poop, the OU game is not the 2nd Sat!! My grandson planned his wedding around that standard. Crap!
At least we get BYU at home from this new schedule. The Horns need a vicktree to settle SEVERAL scores with those sorry ********!
It was first Saturday in 2018 and third Saturday in 2009, so I don't think there is a "2nd Sat" standard. While the majority of games are definitely that weekend, I think it's more of a "see how it fits" situation than anything else.
