Answered my own Q: Google says she plays "Wing" which it defines as EITHER a SG or SF. Which would she play under Vic's scheme? Hard to see her replace Shaylee, at least short term.

Probably SF if Gonzalez comes back. Harmon, Gonzalez, Booker, F, P.

I think Madison Booker could play SG, SF, or PF depending on the matchups and who is on the court with her.

But, the reason I think she is better suited for SF next season is that if everyone is healthy, we will have Shaylee Gonzales, Jordana Codio, Gisella Maul, and Shay Holle who are all most likely able to play both SG & SF, but they all have much more slender builds than Booker. It's great having players who can play more than one position effectively.

Damn, I get pooped for hoping she plays like 2 of the best female athletes ever at Texas??:idk:

Certainly the best sister duo at Texas, probably one of the best in the country. I guess creaky hates Hookers and other great Texas athletes.

If you had said little h hooker, I would completely understand Creaky's distaste. As it is, I chuckled.

Well that answered the Boutilier playing question. Coppell beat Flower Mound last week….think Friday. The DMNews said she played but didn’t score. Said FM played a zone when she was in the game. Wonder if Schaefer will do the same?

I’m excited about Abby. I know she’s a huge question mark and will need a lot of work but I’m excited about what she can become. I’m not sure she starts for a while (if ever). But if the coaches can bulk her up and WORK that post game, look out. She’s a project that you take, IMO.

I think I remember someone mentioning that she's pretty good up and down the floor, for a big. It will certainly be interesting to see what she brings.

Since I can't read the article without subscribing to the DMN, can you summarize what happened?

She’s tall. #2 ranked recruit in DFW. Only played 10 games due to leg stress fracture. She’s dunking in practice. May dunk in game soon. Training with an Austin based trainer. Is a developmental player for Texas. Quotes Schaefer from signing day. She takes double team off Maddie Cox. She rebounds and alters shots.

She also had a hole in her eardrum she had surgery for along with her leg injury. Her high school coach says she’s a good three point shooter.

Her younger sister is 5’-6”. Takes after dad. Coach says she looks like Shaq against Muggsy Bouges when she plays other teams.

I saw her several times last year. Yes once she gets those long legs moving she can cover a lot of ground pretty quickly. She actually has a face up game and has a pretty nice 10-12 foot shot.
I also mentioned that she hasn't grown into her body.A little light so will have to hit the weight room fast.
A project for sure but I don't think you can pass up on this one. Very very curious how the coaching staff proceeds with this one.

So her injury was a leg stress fracture. Does this mean that she may have brittle bones, or that she just hasn't had the opportunity to build up support for her height?

Stress fracture? I’m a structural engineer and can analyze steel or reinforced concrete. Both of those “can” be brittle. Bones? I’ll punt that to the docs on this board. But this discussion reminds me that I’ve got some peanut brittle from Christmas that needs eating.

Don't know if this is it or not but have known kids 10-11 in soccer , especially girls that had to sit out from competitive sports for up to a year due to bone plate issues in their feet.

Essentially the bone (whatever bone) isn't strong enough yet to support the stress applied to it by athletic competition.

The kid has been 6'9 for over a year. My uneducated guess it has to do with bone development.

Thanks for the explanation! She attended a game at Moody, and I found myself standing behind her in the concession line. I knew we had a tall recruit, so I immediately knew this must be her. She was the tallest girl I had ever seen. Holy crap she is tall. But then I'm only 5'1" so standing next to her was really something.

Cool...my son is a structural engineer. And he likes peanut brittle too. Hmmm, is this a random coincidence or is this a pattern we need to investigate?...Hmmm.

Well 1sahorn…..all I can say is structural engineers have “special” skills that probably don’t translate exactly into good women’s basketball analysts or fans. But those skills DO translate into peanut brittle experts. You could be the common denominator between your son and this fan. So anytime you disagree with one of my basketball comments, just suggest I go eat some peanut brittle and leave basketball to ya’ll.

She is a question mark for sure. Guessing that the extreme height for a woman has made her susceptible to injury since she played so little this year. Hope she turns out to be a dynamo for Texas!

Something to raise spirits a little after the other night’s outcome:
Madison had a good night in front of Vic…22 of her team’s 46 points.
