If Ewers follows the trajectory of many quarterbacks, the player we see this fall — in Year 2 — could be something very special. I believe that will be the case, and that we will make a run.
regarding baseball, i see baseball sites talking about his talent, but can't find a ranking list that has him in the top 100 or top 200. anyone else?
Georgia built its current dominance on top 5 recruiting classes, year-after-year, starting some 5 years or so ago. It’s a Mack Brown type of strategy and will usually put a program in a good position to challenge for all the marbles.
how about that ... The Longhorns are the only program with three five-star offensive signees: Five-Star Plus+ QB Arch Manning, running back Cedric Baxter and wide receiver Johntay Cook. Add in electric wideout Ryan Niblett, there’s some serious firepower there to work with. All four could potentially see the field in year one. Texas’ 2023 recruiting class named best offensive group in the nation
Expecting big contributions from Bax, Brooks and hopefully Wisner! WR room is packed with Worthy, Neyor, Whitt, Mitchell and rookies Cook, Niblett. Where does this leave Thompson? Slot, returner etc??
If Ewers doesnt hit the gates running there will be calls for his head. I like Dukes optimism. I am still waitin to see that 5 star QB he is suppose to be.
Agree. He has shown nothing since I first saw him during his sophomore year in high school. He managed R. Dodge's offense, but that is it.
I saw something in Ewers in the bama game. it's like he applied himself in every way to be successful. Then he came back and wasn't quite the same. my gut feeling is he will find the moxie he had in the bama game. His first season was a huge learning curve. I think all the ingredients will add up to a good bowl of soup. However, if he plays badly like he did sometimes last season, i won't be able to watch.
To be fair, didn’t we all see flashes of greatness? In fact, Joel Klatt — who I believe is the best college analyst in broadcasting — was raving about him through the OU game, and speculating that had he been healthy, Texas would likely have been undefeated. Later we saw the two consecutive “perfect passes” to Worthy in the Alamo Bowl, both dropped. No doubt, he struggled mightily at times, certainly including Oklahoma State, where the regression was palpable. But to these eyes, we’ve seen more than just a few flashes.
Both Hill and Lehau will be tearing it up. Despite all that, I'd still like to portal in an experienced, good, upperclassman LB for next year.
But those highlights look like he's patient, has the ability to slip, uses his off hand in tight quarters, with a bit of a juke/cut that we saw with Bijan.
Those first two highlights show real speed. He flies down the field, outrunning even defenders who have the angle on him Does he have Jamal Charles speed, no. But then, very few do have that. He looks extremely talented to me.
Add in the Bijan-like moves and you've got something special. Hope to see him in the backfield very soon.
I hope he’s great at the college level but what I saw in the Hudl film was a RB with good cutting ability, running through huge holes, not breaking tackles or running over people. He will rarely see such open spaces in college. He does look big/stout. Guess we’ll see.
