Didn't see this anywhere on here https://www.si.com/nfl/patriots/new...fwa-cole-strange-tyquan-thornton-bailey-zappe
He's developed a bit of a cult following in NE after he recovered a special teams fumble and tried to give the ball to Belichick. I kind of wish we had him for more than 2 seasons because he had a good energy.
Yes, if he had better feeling on defense (well everyone else too) by playing for a single DC for 3-4 years then yes I think he would have been special at Texas.
I wanna say he had 4 picks in college. But he missed that one versus KU. Another NFLer dropped one against KU in the Charlie Strong loss. Go figure.
perhaps your right but I was mostly disappointed in Schooler when he was here so this surprises me to some degree.
I’ll tout him as an NFLer, but as a special teams guy, he’s mostly an athlete. And on paper, he’s a great athlete. That’s supported that he played two positions in college. People undervalue the environment that people have. Schooler was no doubt limited in his play by the lack of consistency during his career, which may have been entirely his doing. Switching from DB to WR then back to DB with a little Covid and university change mixed in, the growth/development was no doubt hindered.
He should have been playing safety from Day 1. We honestly didn't need him at WR in 2020. We had Moore, Eagles, Jake Smith, Whittington, Washington, Tarik Black, Woodard, and Moochie Dixon. Meanwhile, our defensive secondary gets torn the f**k up against the likes of Tech, OU, etc.
You’re probably right on Day 1. But who knows whether he dictated those terms. His Pro Day numbers were quite stellar. If he’s good enough to at least see the field as a WR, then his hands should be at least ok for DB. And he’s aggressive. Seems like a prime DB candidate.
