UT Arlington stuns No. 10 TCU
    [IMG]

"No. 10 TCU rallied hard Tuesday night, but UT Arlington proved too much for the Horned Frogs.

The Mavericks scored their final run in the sixth inning when the score sat at 8-2.
TCU responded with three in the seventh, one in the eighth and another in the ninth. But the Horned Frogs left the tying run stranded on third when the potential go-ahead run struck out to end the ball game.

UT Arlington creeps closer to .500, moving their record to 5-7 on the season. TCU fell to 7-5."

The UTA Mavericks will come to the Disch for a game later in the year. Can't pencil in the W for that one yet.

Gavin Kash -- you remember that guy?

At Tech, he's batting 0.463 with an OPS of 1.396.

14-3 with a pretty good schedule.

They're killing it up there on the South Plains.

Time to re-calibrate conference predictions. By the numbers, Tech looks like the team to beat in the Big 12, then it's neck-and-neck between OSU and UT, then comes TCU. Tech's offensive numbers are scary.

Tech's pitching is just a tad worse than ours, and their offense is blasting everyone. They're lighting up the scoreboard on the South Plains. Their pitching depth is something I don't know about. But count on the Raiders putting lots of points on the scoreboard. It will be interesting to see Gordon and (maybe) LBJ take on Tech's batting lineup. As mentioned up thread, Tech's batting lineup is led by none other than Gavin Kash. :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

I do remember that guy and I was disappointed that he transferred. I thought he had a good chance to be a starter for us this year.

We’re still very young, like UT. And very similar in the frustrations as well…lots of promise, but just as many boneheaded mistakes. Pitching is inconsistent. Our bullpen should be sponsored by Rolaids. Our bats have been good, but with youngsters, they’ll get hot all at the same time and go cold together as well…that worries me a lot. We get Xerox U in Lubbock this weekend so we’ll see if the conference power structure needs to be recalibrated after that.

On a side note - Iowa’s Saturday pitcher, Brody Brecht, is a freakin dynamo! Kid melted down the radar gun, throwing upper 90’s to 100+ consistently his entire time in the game. Took a shot to inside of his foot, was in obvious discomfort but shook off the trainer. Was a little off for the next batter, and then fell right back into his groove. Threw over 100 pitches before they pulled him. He’s one to watch…but I don’t want to face him again.

UTA is in Lubbock for a 2-game tilt this week…our midweek series tend to jump up and bite us. Still miffed about losing to freakin Abilene Christian at home last year.

It's good to see the rise of another decent college baseball team in Texas -- UTA
(as long as they don't get tooooooooooooooooooo good...:beertoast:)

I think they really miffed the Frogs in the battle for Tarrant County college baseball supremacy.

Most impressive may be the catcher keeping the angry batter from doing something to get himself in trouble despite understandably being upset.

You’re right! That catcher is quite the diplomat!

We stomped Mercer 11-3 this past Weds. They then went up to Waco where they swept the Bears in 3 games.

    Good news!

The bad news: it was Rodriguez (our current hitting coach) who left Baylor in a complete and utter shambles. Maybe he'll get it together here? The jury's still out on whether he's any good at coaching hitting at a top-line program like UT. I wish we would have kept Tulo. Tulo seemed to be doing very well here.

    It wasn't up to us.

You keep saying this - where is the proof? How can a hitting coach by himself ruin a program? Does the HC not have any responsibility? I find it hard to believe that Coach Pierce would choose Rodriguez if he knew what you say to be the case (and how could he not).
