This entire controversy is dumb. Desantis gave as good of a comment on this as one should expect. As usual, a lot of things are true at the same time.

    1. Bragg is clearly a hyper-partisan actor using his prosecutorial power to achieve political goals. In a city with the crime problems New York has and considering that he has made being lax on crime a major part of his agenda, you'd think something like this, which has no bearing at all on public safety, would be a non-issue for him. He's letting violent felons skate, but he's going after Trump.

    2. Trump likely is guilty of a crime, but he's not guilty of a serious crime. A false business or campaign record with weak evidence of intent and no evidence of anybody being harmed? He's closer to a jaywalker than to a serious criminal. If this wasn't Trump, would this even be on the DA's radar screen? No.

    3. Banging porn actresses isn't a wise life choice, even if it buys you a few minutes of fun.

    4. The Democratic Party not only wants the "threat to democracy" to be the nominee, they are obsessed with it and massively fear anyone else being the nominee. They are doing everything they can to attract attention to Trump and to rally the GOP around him. Whether they're right or wrong in their calculation is a matter of opinion, but they clearly think they can beat Trump and would have a much harder time against other Republicans.

Totally agree with the first 3 of Deez's reply.

The Dems believe that they discredit every Republican voter with continuing to keep Trump in the news. This also provides a nudge to the dem voters to be sure and vote (or be sure someone harvests their vote).

They do, but that matters little unless he's the nominee. They are desperate for that to happen. They at least think they have the book on him and can beat him, because they can make the election about him rather than about them.

This is the Dem's effort to get that Trump base to be fervent in their support for Trump. The more they object to the Dem's the more they will stand in defense of DJT and that could be enough to make him the GOP nominee. Trump's base will feel like they have the moral high ground by defending/supporting DJT but it will cost us the practical votes/power that comes with actually winning the POTUS and congressional seats.

Dems will vote for Trump in every primary they are allowed. That's my fear. Trump can't/ won't win and 80% of Americans know it. Worries me

Xi and Putin are palling it up, talking about how things will be like they were 100 years ago, and seeking world domination, while, our politicians are fixated on getting a mug shot of Trump.
    Priorities.

What most people do not realize is that we are already entangled in a world war. Not the traditional tanks and rifles, but technological, biological and psychological war. And as just stated, our leaders are focused on their own civil war at home.
    The press is politically weaponized.
The justice department is politically weaponized.
    The CDC is politically weaponized.
Each political party is focused on imprisoning their enemies.
Our military is focusing on DEI which is reducing our ranks substantially.
Our politicians are only interested in their own financial interests.

War will be the path to destruction not salvation. It will make us weaker not stronger. Just look at what happened to all of Europe in the early 20th century. They lost their positions of power and influence because they didn't show restraint.

With a very few exceptions, Germany Italy Not sure but maybe Russia, most of Europe would have preferred to show restraint. For Sure the UK and France would have

I think Demx felt they had to based on all the media attention past 10 days.
Don't think they are going to like the outcome

This should bolster confidence in the electoral process as well as the justice department. (Sarcasm) I am not sure how America survives the democrats use of the justice department and IRS to attack political opponents. It will only get worse from here on out.

I don't think the Democrats realize what they have done. To paraphrase the movie Tombstone: "You've called the Thunder, and Hell's coming with me." This will do nothing but invigorate the Trump supporters.

Florida will not accept any extradition request. Good for Ron. Can't totally stop it but can delay it.

The issue is it will not swing one vote from Independants or college educated women. Trump cannot win without those groups. Someone in the Republican Party need to grow a pair and tell Trump that they want to win so STFU and get out of the way until the election is over.

Well... your comment about it getting worse from here out deserves a WINNER vote. Every politician soon is fair game for this nonsense. No one wins in the end

I'm not a criminal attorney, but I'm pretty sure the prosecution has the burden of proof in criminal cases.

When the Republicans are in control, I hope Paul and Nancy respect the system when they are indicted for insider trading and securities fraud. They can spend time in jail with Sleepy and his son.
