Seriously? We *pummeled* WVU, the #6 team in the country, just last weekend. If the locker room is so screwed up, how could that happen?
That's your sample size?? Try looking at the maddening inconsistency over the course of the season. And in any case, no way WVU is, or even should have been, the #6 team in the country.
Without cherry picking Daily started almost every game from the start of the season until he was benched. But if you want records, they are 30-19 with him and 8-1 without including a dominating sweep of the #6 team. Seems like an improvement to me no matter who got hits in two losses. Like I said, maybe it's coincidence and I don't necessarily believe one player can change an entire team unless its a chemistry thing, but it sure is odd. Practically all of his stats have declined from last year. At this point I'd rather give one of those national top 200 freshmen you like to talk about a chance to continue developing.
First, you’re wrong on the stats. Daly didn’t start ACU. That was a win. He didn’t start versus Vandy. That was a loss. Backups committed 3 errors resulting in 7 unearned runs. Yes, Flores did start versus UTA and San Jose - 3-1 in those games. Beat WVU 3-0. 0-2 in the Big 12 tourney. Whatever WVU was ranked going into our series is irrelevant as a point. They’ve lost 2 more since then and really only one competitive game out of the 5. Since Daly was taken out as starter, we are 6-2 and a 3rd loss with him in there in which he was one of your more productive hitters. And that’s because Carlson is out and Powell is banged up. Oh and Belyeu and Galvan were 0-4 with 3 Ks yesterday. Carlson is a loss. Powell not being 100% doesn’t help. Thomas too. It’s baseball. There are ups and downs. Our chemistry isn’t going to fluctuate from week to week.
When I said Pierce should have used our best pitchers in the first two games, that includes the best relievers in the bullpen, not Travis Sthele and Zane Morehouse and their 5+ ERAs. Does anything good ever happen when those guys enter the game?
Tech & Ou in one helluva ball game OU with 4 run lead in 8th Tech plates 2 in eighth Tech plates 2 in ninth with two out and then wins it on an infield single
If you had told me in March when Texas sat at 4-7 that the Horns would go 34-13 the rest of the way I would have said sold and I think just about everyone else on this board at that time would have said the same thing. This team is in a rebuilding year yet won the Big XII regular season and is going to be a tough two seed for someone to have to handle. You cant put a whole lot of stick into a 24 hour period in Arlington where the bats went silent. As long as the Texas regional isnt at Globe Life I like Texas' chances to do some damage next weekend.
A back and forth offensive explosion ended with Tech beating OU 10-9 in a walk off/9th inning finale.
And the Pokes just won it in the 9th inning. 6-5 They'll be an interesting team in the tournament. Juaron Watts\Brown is a heck of a pitcher, and they can put some points on the board.
They did themselves a big favor with a solid showing in the Big 12 tournament (runner up). They're probably a strong 3 seed, instead of a 4 seed. I sure don't want them and their nasty batting lineup in our Regional. You may have to score 10+ runs to beat them. (but with Tech's pitching staff, that's always a possibility...)
…and another year concludes with TCU somehow on top, after flopping around the middle of the pack all year.
…got hot at the right time. Like the old marathoner’s maxim - no one cares how fast you start, it’s how you finish. That definitely rings true in college baseball.
