This seems to me to be a great time to thank Mack Brown and his coaches for the previous twelve years of excellent football we've been privileged to watch. They're having a tough time right now since the probabilities have caught up with them and UT is experiencing a down year. They've done a great job, and I want to thank them for all their hard work. Hang in there, guys. LonghornDub
Mack is a great ambassador for the university. There may be better football coaches out there, but none is better at doing what Mack does.
I still remember back in the late 80's and 90's when we lost to many teams that should not have been able to compete with us on the field. So yeah, even though I'm not a Greg Davis fan, I am grateful to Mack for what he brought to Texas.
Mack is the best. The issues this year have to do with perceived expectations (coaches' fault) and making the same mistakes over and over again (players' fault). None of this takes away from Mack the person and Mack the face of Texas football.
I totally concur with the OP. Mack has done an outstanding job and I truely believe that he will get the ship turned around for next season. I feel bad for him because we all know he wants it corrected right now. However, there are some unknown problems that will have to be fixed before that can happen. Here's wishing Mack and the whole program a speedy turn-around!
Yeah, buddy. I'd like to see a comparison of UT's 12 year run compared to any other university at any other time in modern college football. My guess is not many, if any, other teams enjoyed the streak UT has had under Mack.
I have been trying IN VAIN to get this idea across on several other threads. its too bad there are so few that get it. everyone thinks with different playcalling we would never have lost a game and should have 12 national titles. the results mack and co have had are unreal - but people here act like we haven't gotten a single first down since brown arrived i will take mack brown and whatever decisions/staff he decides to go with - because frankly the overall results he has given us are as good as it gets. and if he sees a problem or wants a change, he will do what it takes to fix it. it's his decision, not mine - i watch and attend games, i don't coach the team on a day to day basis. i completely trust him, he has the skins on the wall thanks mack. i wish more appreciated the big picture
Exactly, Mack Brown has all Longhorn fans spoiled. I just wish he had tempered expectations for this season (rebuilding year) after losing so much talent the last two years.
Are loses to ISU and UCLA considered tempered expectations? I agree we've been spoiled 10+ wins for a decade. I'm happy to have Coach Mack Brown overseeing the ship, I'm just ready for him to break ties with those who bring us down
I've been a long-distance admirer of Mack Brown and your program for several years. I feel for you all and what you're going through right now. I think it won't be long before Ohio State goes through something similar, when our QB leaves. My point is just that I think Mack Brown and Jim Tressel are the two classiest college FB coaches in the country, and we're both lucky to have them. They both have their priorities straight and have some integrity in a profession where lying and cheating have unfortunately become more and more the norm. You're lucky to have him, as we are to have Tressel, and you'll be back next year. Hang in there!!
There is no coach in football, past or present, that I would rather have. At this point, I would pick Mack over DKR. It would be neck and neck with Tom Landry.
As a Buckeye fan, I agree with the leading post in this thread. Mack Brown and Texas have a first class program that has been extremely successful over the past decade and should be congratulated and appreciated. We all get spoiled by success and sometimes our expectations get unrealistic at times. Texas will be back, they are just going through a rebuilding year. Believe me, I know all to well about losing to teams that you should not lose to. But rest assured, the Longhorns will be back on top...very soon. Hang in there Longhorn Fans. Great thread.
Mack and Sally Brown have done us PROUD. I don't look at any coach out there today and wish they were leading my LONGHORNS. When we're all sitting around in DEPENDS and eating oatmeal three times a day....we'll look back on these years as the GOOD 'ol DAYS....
After reading the transcript from the press conference, and in the spirit of Election Day, the motto should be "Stick with Mack... we'll be back" And I borrowed this quote from a fellow twitter friend: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill It's the first time I've been at a game we've lost since the 1991 Cotton Bowl... and I still got up Sunday morning and proudly put on my Burnt Orange.... I may be seeing the world through "rose-colored" glasses, but at this point, I'm happy we have a coach like Mack... mG
