I hope Mack does not stick around long enough to destroy the juggernaut that he built. I do not want to see him get fired but I would be happy if he took an upper level management job in the AD.

I actually don't have a strange outlook. Other than football is not my life like it is to some of you.

I really like Mack. I have the utmost respect for him. Proud that he represents my University with class. But I just think the game has passed him by. He doesn't look like he is having fun anymore. I like him and want him to be happy.

Getting new blood in the captain's seat would be good for Mack and I believe for the program. With that said, I also strongly believe that Mack has earned the right to leave when he wants.

21 - Gideon is the best defensive player of the Texas defense. The other safety #6 was out of position, confused, thrown at, and trailed every play into the endzone and Gideon was at fault? I only saw Gideon miss one tackle on a player that ran untouched through our line and linebackers.
If every player on our defense played his position on every play as well as Gideon, we would not be 4-4.
Not sure what game you were watching, but again Gideon was having to line up confused db/safety the entire game and then try to cover their out of position play. Vacarro needs to play the other safety position.
The collision play is one of the few times all night I can remember Baylor throwing at Williams/Gideon and the collision was a result of both players being in the correct position for the int.

Gilbert has improved every game and if he had recievers that could catch the ball, we win the game.
Here is an idea, if you cant catch the ball you ride the pine.
Put Cade McCrary in, he can catch the ball.

Gideon allowed the key touchdown of the game - right before the half - he whiffed on the tackle

Why are there always the idiots who crawl out of the woodwork every time a team does not win the national championship to proclaim "The Game Has Passed the Coach By!" I wonder how many times Joe Paterno has heard this screed?
I remember the same words when DKR had the three 6-4 seasons, the game had passed him by. Then UT recruits the Worster Bunch, retools the offense into the wishbone, makes a qb change and reels off 30 straight wins.
Then a few years later, the same treatment, the game had passed him by. Earl Campbell was having an injury plagued year, and many around the program urged DKR to stay one more season, knowing that 1977 was going to be a really good season, but he had enough.
Not every team is great, they don't all coalesce together, they pieces just don't always work, and key injuries and defections can hurt badly. That doesn't mean every player is the worst in 50 years or the game has passed the coaches by.
Now go back to venting, hire your airplanes to pull your fire the coach banners, quit attending the games, but I'll keep going to the games and support the team, and I know they will come around, hopefully by next year, and that Mack Brown, Will Muschamp and most of the other coaches have not suddenly become morons who shouldn't be coaching at the peewee level.
Get some perspective, we have had it awfully good around here, it isn't always going to be a great season.

I disagree with you on Gideon, his poor play cost Texas 2 tds against Baylor, one where he missed the tackle on the run and he gambled on the pass also. He does not have good hands. I think Sam Acho by far is the best player on defense. I like Aaron Williams in the secondary.

Rex, for the record I love Balbay. Even though he's not the best shooter when he's on the court I know he'll give 110% He's pretty fast and he's pretty good at defense, is he a super star that dominates all aspects of the game? No, but that's ok. We can't have a team full of super stars, sorry.

Apply the same thing to Gideon. He definitely has room to improve and grow, no doubt. But I love the way he never gives up on a play and no matter what will go full steam every second he's on the field. I'm happy with that. Maybe he's given up a couple of big plays but how many times have you seen him go full steam to the other side of the field to help out on a tackle? Way more than the big plays he's missed, I'm sure of it.

So Gideon "personally" gave up a td by missing a tackle on a player that ran through the DL and LBs unscathed?
    Brilliant analysis.

You might check out the other safety's #6 performance before pointing out Gideon. There you might find some "personal" performance breakdowns. Good kid, and tries but is always out of position and has to be lined up, cant cover and we have better on the bench. Vacarro.

Yes, he is the best defensive player in regards to this defense as he has to line up the other safety/dbs on EVERY PLAY. You can pull 81 or any other defensive player out of the game and not have as detrimental an effect on the defense as pulling 21 out of the game.
