Great crowd tonight! Great win tonight! By the way, what's the deal with the male strippers in the student section?
A few members of the UT men's swim team. They traditionally come to the A&M home match in full force and do the strip tease. This year with it being before Thanksgiving they were no shows. So I guess they wanted to make up for it.
Come on seniors. Let's win your last match on the 40 Acres. (Purdue looked formidable, however.) Great Crowd! As the Texas Longhorns celebrated their spirited five-set triumph against Illinois in the traditional way -- with the singing of "The Eyes of Texas," -- head coach Jerritt Elliott came over to senior Juliann Faucette with a request. "Make sure you go all around," he said. "Oh, for sure," Faucette agreed. And then Faucette led the Longhorns in a victory lap around Gregory Gym, but their purpose was merely to say thank you to the 3,731 who filled the gymnasium to the rafters and with decibels of support. Illinois senior Johannah Bangert, who has spent the last four years visiting raucous Big Ten settings, called Gregory Gym the toughest gym she's ever experienced. "It was a great college atmosphere, and a lot of fun to be part of," Illinois coach Kevin Hambly said. "They're great fans and educated. It was deafening. You couldn't even try to talk." Elliott credits the fans with being the difference in the match. "They were a big part of the win tonight," Elliott said. "They gave us that extra energy when we were down. I'm just so proud that we are Texas."
Now I have truly experienced home court advantage! Great crowd & a even better win ! Lets do it again vs Purdue ! Texas 3700+ Fans strong
It was a fantastic atmosphere last night - I've never heard it so LOUD in Gregory! Hope all the Texas fans are ready to do it all over again tonight. I have to say, though, that we were sitting close to the visitor's bench & the Illinois fans were some of the worst VB fans. They were incredibly negative - constantly screaming that Texas was a bunch of cheaters, & at one point, a guy screaming at Elliott actually ran down the steps toward Elliott like he was going to punch him until a big UT fan got in his way - crazy.
