I want TEXAS to win it all, but I really would like for them to beat Penn State and get them out of the tourney. All Penn State knows is having to hold up the NCAA trophy and they have done it 3 years in a row. We should have beaten them last year, but sh!t happens. I have a feeling history will not repeat itself......Faucett and Adams are going to be red hot and Kocher needs to just be efficient!!! I think UCLA, Illinois and Purdue have prepared us to completely destroy Penn State. Let's go TEXAS.................IT IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thing that is scary is that Penn State is a young team and should dominate now like Connecticut in Women's basketball the next few years. We will have great team but not in Penn State's class but then who will?
Why not??? We have had the no. 2 class three years in a row???? We should be able to compete with them.....we were just terrible today...... Oh well it happens......we will be back!!!!!!
I thought we actually did pretty well in the 3rd set with our backs to the wall. Not bad against a team that had only lost 1 set all tourney.
Just ran into a buzz saw, this team over achieved getting to the Final Four which is no small accomplishment, congrats Ladies on a fantastic season.
You have to understand that due to graduation and a severe run of bad injuries, this Texas volleyball team overachieved all season. To make it to the Final Four was a huge accomplishment. I believe we get all the injured players back, plus a great recruiting class, for next year, although losing a couple of stars. We should be a top contender for next season. But Penn State just reloads and rolls along. They are impressive, and hardly ever make a mistake. They are on top of the women's volleyball world right now, and it will be hard to dislodge them from their throne. We should congratulate the Lady Longhorns for a great season, and for coming together as a team after so many devastating injuries.
I agree, given injuries this team did better than expected, and certainly making the Final Four is better than most thought they would accomplish this season. Of course once there we were all hoping for a better result given how well they've played lately, but three consecutive FF's is an impressive feat. With everyone healthy next season you have to assume given who is coming back combined with those coming in, the expectation will be that the Horns will win a NC (or hopefully several) during the next several years; we'll have something like six top 10 recruits on the squad, with most of them top 5 and a couple who were ranked 1st or 2nd in their class. Can't wait to see them in action and bringing home championships in the years ahead. Great job by our seniors Faucette, Doris and Dickson this season; thanks for everything you did for the program!
Bad matches happen, even to top teams. Ninth-seeded Texas lost to 4th-seeded Penn State by an overall margin of 75-48. Sixth-seeded USC lost to seventh-seeded Cal by an overall margin of 75-51. One point per game difference. USC had already defeated Cal 3-2 at home in October, and 3-1 at Cal in November! USC and Texas had this in common: achieving what had seemed impossible just by getting to the Finals. Each squad was due for an emotional letdown. Penn State jumped out to a nine-point lead, 10-1, over Texas in Game #1; Cal jumped out to a nine point lead, 11-2, over USC in Game #1. It's a shame that the crowd and the TV audience didn't get to see the "real" USC or the "real" Texas. Play those matches ten times each and the average results would bear little resemblance to what happened last night. Watching live, our ladies looked like they were playing in water; they were clearly spent from the effort it took to overcome the adversities and make it as far as they did. Meanwhile, Penn State essentially had the first two weeks of the tournament off and was clearly fresher; their intra-squad scrimmages are probably vastly tougher than what they faced through four rounds. Not making excuses, just stating facts. Like the 2009 baseball team, the 2010 volleyball team should long be remembered for achieving so much in a surprisingly strong run, not for coming up short at the end. This group gave us many reasons to be proud of them. Congratulations, ladies, on your fantastic accomplishments!
Agree with what other have said, making it to 3 Final Fours is a huge accomplishment & with all of the injuries, this team just makes it even more special. I truly can’t remember a better atmosphere then their last two home games. Just to be apart of that was special and ladies I thank you for that. Seniors you lead the way & once again set the standard. Jennifer in my book you are an All American ! There will never be another Juliann aka “Boom” as far as I’m concern. You are the one that exemplifies the saying “Follow me & Lead by example”. Lauren I thank you for you were the piece that helped hold this team together by doing what ever was needed. Our 1st year All American Rachael, congratulations young lady, the standard has been set & you got next!
Great job by our ladies and coaches this season - sometimes u play a team and they are just better- also it might not have mattered how well Texas played - Penn st was really clicking and never lost the momentum - we fought hard in the third set trying to counteract the momentum just wasn't going to happen - our ladies will get their chance
Penn State is a young team as well. Really impressive run considering that Stanford, Texas and Nebraska have had pretty good squads the last few years. Last year still hurts a lot!!
