I actually liked his confidence there. Reminds me of VY.

That said, he sounds like a middle school QB with all of his "let's go offense!" chants on the sidelines. I want to hear him drop a few M'F'ers to improve how I feel about him.

Meh, I dunno. People who hate him will find reasons to hate him, but I think he'll wind up being one of the steals of the 2010 draft. He's a winner.

why people put him down is beyond me...there's not been a group of top notch kids/role models/winners than Colt, Tebow, and Bradford in the same class - ever

I wish them all the best

If the media hadnt slobbed all over him so much I think I would tend to root for him. Seems to be a good kid, right values etc. But all this media love fest just makes me cheer for failure.

F Tebow, the dude comes across as fake as a $3 bill.

It will be fun to see if he's the first NFL player to come out of the closet, though.

Sorry, he's a good player, but I think he got more credit than he deserved in college and much of it came from his ball-hoggishness. The guy averaged 4.3 yards a carry and yet is talked about as maybe the greatest ever?

I admire competitiveness. I don't admire the ME! ME! ME! attitude, displayed on the link above. Would you want to be in the backfield with a QB who says he is the only one carrying the ball? He gets credit for dozens of short TDs in college that on any other team would have been scored by the RB or TB. And that makes him the greatest player in history.

Now we see why he got those carries on the goalline in colllege when the RB could have done it just as easy. He comes across as "it's all about me." He is the most overhyped player in all of sports. Seriously, I can't think of a player hyped more and be nothing special as this guy is.

And for you guys that think you can't say anything about negative about his actual talent and not the hype are the first ones believing every word ESPN says.

A few jewels that were stated by one person on ESPN and then everyone runs with it.

"I don't believe a player should lose his spot to injury"

[IMG] They didn't lose it to injury you idiot, they lost it because the player that replace you proved to be better.

Or "If Jeff Fisher is fired, he will have another job on another team in 30 seconds [IMG] If that happens then that GM and Owner are idiots. Didn't mean to get off topic, but too many here depend on ESPN too much and take what they say as gospel. Tebow is a great kid that is just an average player.

People that try and run good kids down make me sick. Tebow was a damn good college player. I have my doubts as an NFL QB, but if he had gone to Texas, we'd think he was one of the best. He wouldn't make my top 10 all time, but definitely my top 100. Tebow took over that OU game. Gotta give him credit for playing big in the biggest game. He's not as good as Vince, but few are. I still think Vince is 2nd or 3rd best offensive college player in the last 30 years. So no, Tebow's not in the Barry/Vince/Newton class of players, but he was damn good.

wadster, that's fine. I agree with everything you said. In college I rate Tebow ahead of both Colt and Sam Bradford, no doubt. Probably around the 50-60 range all-time.

But most talking heads regard him as the greatest player of the past decade and right alongside Grange, Staubach, and Sanders. That's rubbish. And yes, much of it came from him scoring 20 rushing and passing TDs apiece during a 9-4 season. Like I said, most of those rushing TDs were short-yardage. VY's 3000/1000 season for a 13-0 team (GOAT-caliber team, at that) was much more impressive but barely ever talked about.

The thing is most people don't pay attention. Most just hear Tebow is the greatest ever and believe it must be true. The stupidest thing you hear is that his "winning" 2 NCs and a Heisman makes him obviously among the greatest. Never mind that he didn't even start for the first NC team. Matt Leinart started for 2 NCs, won a Heisman, and barely missed a threepeat. I rank Leinart above Tebow because he showed up bigger against bigger opponents than Tebow did in his career. But Leinart doesn't get a fraction of Tebow's accolades for his college career which is ridiculous.

Zona, if you look at my above posts I give Tebow his due. I say he is among the 50 or 60-best college players of all time. Why can't I criticize him at the same time?

Some people believe that if you don't worship at the Tebow altar then you're "trashing" him. That is precisely a function of the overhype we're talking about.

So I don't think Jeebus is the son of God. I can still call him one of his prophets, can't I? [IMG]

Unfortunate that it seems like most people dislike him for something he didn't do or have any control over. I don't like the way the media won't shut up about him but I try to separate that from the guy himself.

There is nothing Tebow has done that other recent QBs haven't done better.

OMG he was 35-6 as a starter!

Uh, Dorsey was 38-2, Leinart was 37-2, and VY was 30-2. And they all won NCs.

OMG he won 2 NCs and a Heisman!

Uh, Leinart *started* for 2 NC teams and just barely missed a 3rd, while also winning a Heisman. And VY's Heisman runner-up season bettered Tebow's Heisman-winning season by a mile, even without the Rose Bowl.

OMG he scored 20 rushing AND passing TDs!

Yeah, how many were from 3 yards and in? Cam Newton just did the same thing in much more impressive fashion and leading his team to an undefeated season.

OMG, so many yards as a dual threat quarterback!!!

Not only did VY's 3000/1000 season better Tebow, VY sat for much of the second halves. And he actually let other people carry the ball.

Tebow is a good player, but VY>Leinart>Tebow.

The only reason so many think otherwise is because of the unbelievable media hype.

Borna Horn -- My post was not directed at your observations, though I think by any measure Tebow is a Top 5 or 10 QB all time, which makes him more like a Top 20 player than a Top 60 player. And I would put VY and Leinart in that Top 10 as well. Dorsey has a great resume, but most consider him to be more of a system guy on the most talented team in football. He is probably a Top 20 QB all time based on his resume, but he was not as talented as VY, Leinart, Tebow or Colt. I'd say he is a tier below those guys.

Also, I'm not saying Tebow deserves to be "worshipped", but anyone that thinks he doesn't deserve to be in the same discussion with Colt and VY is an idiot.

Great player but not near worth what they paid for him. As of right now.

Well, Denver and Tennessee play each other next year. I'm crossing my fingers for a VY-Tebow face-off. They should put that on MNF.

Damn - misread the subject line. Like you all, I was aware of the Holy Tears that Tebus is known to shed... but I was not aware of his being milked as well. Tears are an important element, but man-milk? That's really rare.

    Maybe next time.

Completely agree with Borna Horn....as ive done on this subject throughout the years.

Tebow was good.....in fact he was very good, but he aint anywhere close to being the all time best and I dont think he is anywhere as good as Vince Young or a Matt Leinart.

Quick...can anyone name any other offensive starter on the Auburn Tigers?

I think this years Heisman winner; Cam Newton is a better player then Tebow ever was.

Tebow played on one of the two or three most talented teams in college football and never led his team to an undefeated season.

Think about that for a second.

    He won one national title.

His first season as a starter the Gators went 9-4 and lost to Michigan (the same Michigan that got beat by Appalachian St and blown out by Oregon)

Cam Newton has taken a team full of nobodies (Im sure the Tigers have some very talented players....but they aren't household names) and has gone undefeated in the SEC and on the verge of winning the national title.

    Vince Young- Undefeated season.

Matt Leinart- Undefeated season...........two undefeated regular seasons.

Ken Dorsey- Very similar resume to Matt Leinart.

What tiring was the media fellatio of this guy....and the fact that when you state that you think he is overated......all his fans come in with the same statement:

"Tebow is such a Great Christian and Role Model....we need more like him and you are just jealous"

What made Vince Young such an world talent was his 90 yard run against Okie St in 2005. No way in hell Tebow could do that.

Tebow's touchown total are major league inflated from all the goal line touchdowns he took from his tailbacks.
