    disclaimer, I didn't see the 1st quarter.

1st half B, V. Tech appeared to have a very good D, threw Stanford off their game a little, but 60 yard TD run!

once again here is a team that knows how to block.

2nd half A+, I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a team with blocking this good, passing this good, running this good, all in one half against a very good D. Unless the V. tech D. was not really that good.

    I guess that's the question.

So, obviously comparing just the two bowl games, this is the OC we want.

What really impressed me after the game was hearing Andrew Luck and Harbaugh talking about the linemen and the tight ends.

3 Tight ends! and then later Luck was asked about blocking, and he replied that there were 9 or 10 people who blocked on the OL during the game.

To compare to what we have had recently, while I was watching Stanford in the 2nd half, I thought that is what we would have looked like with Colt in 2009 on offense w/regard to production, IF we had an OL.

Iow, they were completely two dimensional, pass as well as run.

in terms of blocking, I have no idea which OL coach is actually better, but I would be thrilled with either one of these guys, Stanford or Wisconsin.

well that first quarter was full of Stanford mistakes/poor play, caused by themselves and Va-Tech. They corrected that for the second half and played fundamentals and kept at it.

I can't recall seeing an offensive line push people around like that, and in particular the techniques they used to pull and everybody be on a man and open such holes. Pass protection was superb. Early on in that first quarter I actually thought Luck looked less capable of moving around and setting himself than most Big 12 QBs for the past several years. He did not impress me the several series they had the ball.

And then he did. But he played better when his offensive line dominated the game completely. That one long pass to #82 late in the game... the one with the DirecTV cam that followed it in the air... that ball was thrown as if he were in a contest making one of his dozen or so throws in sequence, and that was just one of them. It was not even like he was in a game doing it... just throwing the ball on a prescribed part of the contest. Like in practice even. It seemed like the Va-Tech players were frozen in time while he threw.

Stanford was well coached. The guys played well individually with technique, and looks like the coach taught them to love each other and play solidly as a team, through and through.

I think after this game he could be the most in-demand coach in college or pros. His demeanor was solid. He was completely in control of his team, and he all but punched some of the ESPN reporters in the face when they started to ask the rude question of "what are you plans now", and he did stiff both the on-field reporter and the (College Football Today host) as well and flat refused to talk about the question.

Good for him. They have no class asking such questions in a live field mic right after such a game. "Coach, great win. Have you decided if you're leaving Stanford or going into movies, or will you make a run for President in 2012?" [IMG]

The Cardinal offense was a thing of beauty last night. The constant shifting just prior to the snap repeatedly befuddled the VaTech defense. Stanford's o-line gouged huge holes on the left side over and over again.
And as an aside, I love seeing VaTech get beat like a five-year-old's Christmas drum. Way to go, Stanford.

When our OC job opening was posted, some people were saying it seemed to match Stanford's OC. I think I would prefer him over Chryst.

I think Harbaugh will take an NFL job. His star has never been brighter and it may never be after this season. If he leaves I think Stanford promotes Shaw to head coach.

If Luck is leaving, and unless there is no NFL season next year, he probably should, Harbough may bolt. I hear the 49er is interested, but some Detroit papaer is saying he is not going to Meatchicken.

Just terrible. I think there were a couple of times where they actually lost yardage!! And did you see that incomplete pass? I dunno, I don't think this is the guy for us.

Let's get Stanford's OL coach too.

Guy may be great, but GD racked up yards and points too when he had VY and Colt.

When you have the consensus #1 QB in the draft, you better look good throwing the ball.

But they also developed a running back last year who came in 2nd in the Heisman balloting and showed nothing in the pros this year. That's being well-rounded (as opposed to our VY/Colt offenses).

Shaw would come to Texas for only one job - head coach.

He has no reason to take the OC slot at Texas. He has a great job at what is presently a better program, he doesn't have to worry about a single player's grades, Stanford gets great recruits these days, he is a Stanford grad, he has a better coach for a boss and when his boss leaves, he will be HC, plus he has plenty of $ so pay is not an issue.
