Yeah a couple of missed names already. Although I do like how we're using Thompson early. No one has an answer for his quickness on the big man screens. If he stays another year, we're basically set.
At least we have Coach Knight doing the color. Say what you will abou this personality/temperament, but he's very knowledgeable and does a good job of sharing it, imo.
I've never seen this many fouls in such a short period of time. Never. Even in our final 17 seconds against Xavier in the 2004 tourney.
I must say I've gotten to like Pat as an announcer. Never cared for him as a coach, but got to admit, he knows the game extremely well.
Knight's only mistake so far was lauding Tristan's free-throw shooting as TT prepared to take his first foul shot. He missed. Is it just me, or do the friendship and mutual admiration between Barnes and Knight come across in Knight's commentary?
Haha ... I noticed her, too, general. I didn't see a ring on that finger--better run on down to The Drum and find out!
Third Coast, I couldn't figure out how to say it to explain it. I sent Gem a PM which I don't think made any sense at all. And I'm not even drinking.
No comment on rRck Perry being the first Texas agony on this board? I'm shocked and disappointed. When I heard that in the bar I was watching the game in I thought this board would be all over that Freudian slip.
I like Knight when he discusses x's and o's, except something he's always harped on which shows his out of touchness with current play, and that is that "you should hold the ball until 5 seconds and then go to the hoop." He fails to realize that a 3-point arc has been added and guys, think Jordan Hamilton, actually know how and when to shoot the 3. The part of their commentary they should omit: a) when Brent is blowing Knight, i.e., comparing him to Lombardy, and b) Knight blowing Rick Perry - totally uncalled for. In fact, it makes me Hook'em!!!
i highly respect knight as a coach, but i have to mute the tv when he is on the broadcast. to me, it takes him way too long to make his point - he sort of rambles. during a fast paced game he's typically 1 to 2 possessions behind. which sucks when the game gets exciting - when the game picks up, and there's a flurry of fast-breaks and big plays, musburger can't get a play-by-play comment in 'cause knight is still criticizing about the quick shot (that, btw, he made) gary johnson took 3 possessions ago. i also don't like how he passes judgment on the game - if they don't do it his way, then its wrong. he doesn't take into account the personnel or match-up. i generally like musburger, but agree, football is more his thing.
I liked Knight too when he first started but he often makes the same point and then picks on players that he has a history of picking on. He was all over Jordan Hamilton early and then Jordan went off. He was all over Gary Johnson for taking a 16 footer, when he should be taking 12-14 footers (what???) and then Gary went off. The most telling was the shot Hamilton took off the screen at the start of the 2nd half. Knight went on and on about how this was a good shot because he had separation from the defender. They replayed it so we could get Knight's great insight, but the defender was all over Hamilton and Hamilton is just THAT good of a shooter. There is no analysis for that. Any shot Hamilton gets in rhythm is a good shot, with a person in his face or not. OK, off my soap box. And that redhead between Brent and Knight. Wow!!!
Beat me, hurt me, flame me, defame me, but I like Brent Musburger. One thing I like: he isn't a screamer, like many others.
