Is there anyone who doesn't think that was the singularly worst Super Bowl halftime ever?

A terrible sounding mix, mics that cut in and out, goofy space costumes, auto tune gone awry, stupid dance moves. Fergie looking like a middle-aged housewife at karaoke night doing a GNR song ...

I've seen far better musicianship at junior high school talent shows. Come to think of it, I've also seen far hotter middle-aged housewives at those talent shows.

I think they are getting too much heat for it. It probably would have been fine but the audio was horrible. Everyone wants something else and thats the problem. The NFL can't please everyone. They went old everyone complained, they go young everyone complains. No performer is ever going to be perfect, but at least get the sound right!

Not the worst, Diana Ross was bad, really bad, so I would put the BEP as second worst.

I was gonna add "Up With People", but they could actually sing and stuff.

i"m not a big BEP fan, but what were y'all expecting?

It wasn't bad. I'm not saying it was great but it certainly wasn't bad.

They just need to find an are gymanstic group and have kids tumble and do flips for the Super Bowl halftime entertainment.

Half Time show should be a peeyee football game or a game of mascots against kids. The only suitable half time for a game of football is more football.

I'm the proverbial fifty-something white guy watched with a bunch of people about my age and we all thought it was a pretty decent show. We even encouraged our middle-school aged kids to watch, but they wouldn't look up from video games going on in the next room.
The sound was bad, so we had to judge by the spectacle. Let's face it, the performance was in a football stadium. We didn't expect it to sound like something from Carnegie Hall.

Meh. I liked it more than I hated it. I don't like the Black Eyed Peas in general, but this was a heck of a lot better than watching The Who wither into nothingness like they just opened the Ark of the Covenant.

I will take music that's a little too young for me instead of watching bands I formerly liked remind me how old I am.

    Muse, Modest Mouse, Metric.

And that's just bands that start with the letter "M".

    Also, the Decemberists.

I'm assuming that everyone in this thread has great taste in music.

Muse? Not only no, but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no.

Halftime was too long. 30 minutes is ridiculous.

hey how about the queens of leon? if you havent gotten your yearly quota of horns down thrown at you by the time the super bowl rolls around, a 20 minute set of those ******** should just about do it. although, its really only funny to watch them throw the horns down while the okies are getting their *** handed to them by mizzou.

I have to admit that when I first saw the Dr Pepper commercial where Fergie ties the cherry stem in a knot with her tongue, I didn't recognize her. My first thought was, surely they could get a better looking woman to do that instead of that skank. lol

For modern bands they should have Muse and the Killers.

I have seen both and they rock big arenas.

For older groups Bon Jovie and Springsteen - people would love that too.

Myself and a group of musicians got together and watched the game, and not one of us thought the show sucked.

Im not a peas fan, but Ive heard their hits over and over again, and their show was fine.

Were there some mic problems, yes.

Was the singing perfect like it is on a recording, no.

Are the BEPs really a band? No.

It was a LIVE show. You think the NFL got hacks to produce this? You think youd do better?

If the problem people have was with the music choice, so be it. If the problem was that there were imperfections in the presentation, people can go screw themselves.

I enjoyed the show, Slash and Usher, and even though I thought the costumes were silly, that didnt make the show "suck."

Was it my favorite show ever? No. However, the hyperbole on this topic is beyond stupid. The total effect of the show was cool, and the performance itself was just fine.

    People need to quit bitching.

  30. i don't think i'm bitching, i honestly don't care much one way or the other but i thought it was terrible. it seemed remarkably bad to me.
