Men have the title in the bag.

Women are 7 points behind going into tomorrow.

Are we supposed to be stronger than the aggies on day four? I sure hope so.

I remember Bevs teams in track where we would not score a single point in day one, but we would do a lot of damage in the sprints.

For the men, that's conference title #32 in a row and 53 overall.

    That's unbelievable. [IMG]

Looks as if ATM loaded up during today's preliminaries. The aggettes sure have depth in some of these events. I hope the ladies can pull this off.

If I calculated everything correctly the Horns scored a pretty amazing 153 points in just two of this evening's first three events, the Platform Diving Final and 100 Free. We now lead the aggie women by 67 points with four events remaining. The ags do have more qualifiers in the three final individual events so it all depends on whether their advantage in those three events is enough to make up the 67 point difference. It's certainly possible but I really don't know which of us would be favored at this point. It's going to be an exciting finish, that's for sure....great job and some fantastic swims by both squads thus far!

Aggies are now only 19 points down with two individual events and the relay remaining. Based on number of qualifiers in the two individual events it doesn't look good for the Horns, but great meet so far no matter what happens.

Butterfly is the aggies specialty. Unfortunately, the horns will finish second to A&M once again. Disappointing...but the recruiting in the past is taking effect right now. The horns will finish higher in the NCs, so that's good!

The Ags are up 16 with just the relay left so even if the Horns take it we'll lose a close meet in the end. Too bad but some record breaking individual and relay performances ought to put us in good position for the NCAA meet. Great job Horns and good luck to both men and women at nationals.

Women platform is not on the score sheet!

We should be ahead if that hasn't been scored.

Yes, that's amazing, the platform event was the first of the night to finish but they didn't put it on the score sheet until end of evening. Now the Horns are 25 ahead with just the relay to go (which should have long finished, maybe just not on results sheet?). That mean unless our relay is disqualified we should win the Big12 title!

Great, gritty performance by the women to pull this out, esp with Hersey having left to turn pro and train for the Olympics. In addition to the title the squad had some super individual as well as relay swims that will be among the nation's best this season. Way to go Horns!

BOTH Men AND Women WIN BIG XII Titles. And both have to beat a&m to do it. WAY TO GO HORNS! These are two of our more ( if not most) successful programs and are often overlooked. HOOK EM ! [IMG]

Question about relay leg timing. Dax Hill with a 41.76 on the anchor leg in the 4 x 100 freestyle. Is a collegiate relay leg timed from time previous man makes the touch or when the swimmer hits the water?

My swimmers tell it is is from the touch. So 41.76 is a good time.

That is an insanely good time. NCAA record for the 100 free is 41.62. I'm told ternational and Olympic times are from the touch, but the splits in the times for the legs look like something more than best swimmer last. First leg is nearly 3 seconds slower than the anchor and a full second slower than legs 2 and 3? Anchor leg beats winner of 100 free race by .7 seconds and his own time in the 100 free by .8 seconds?

Your time starts when the previous swimmer touches the electronic pad, and your feet have to be on the blocks. You, however, have already done at least 1 second of work, even though your feet are still touching the block. First, you bypass reaction time to the starting "gun." You are, by that time, fully horizontal, pushing off the block, and your hands are a good 6 or 8 feet down the pool when the other guy touches. So, of course, the times tend to be better.
