question about AM to SEC

I know there's a lot written on here and many other places about A&M to the SEC but I have a couple of questions regarding their situation. I'm sorry if these have been discussed here before and please bear with me. The first question is which other school is the SEC going to get to join the conference with A&M? I just don't see the SEC only adding 1 team to make the total 13 teams. Wouldn't they want an even number of teams? From what I can see Miami is the logical choice but I don't know if thats a real possibility or not. And secondly how can A&M afford to go to the SEC? My understanding is that they already took a loan (I think about 20 million) from the school. Then if they announced they are leaving soon they would more than likely not make what their share was supposed to be in the Big 12 this year. And if they waited to leave until 2013 then its another year of reduced revenue. Then will there be an exit fee from the Big 12 and a reduced revenue share for the first couple of years in the SEC? I was just wondering if anyone knew the answers to these questions or what everyone thought. And like I said, I'm sorry if it's already been discussed on here, I must have just missed it.

    1) the SEC could very well add a 13th team and have an unbalanced east/west...then add a 14th down the road in 2013.

    2) too much is made out of that loan. the AD is paying it back similar to a mortgage. we have cash.

    3) not sure about the exit fees. we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm wondering if this SEC/aggy love fest has a deeper motive for the SEC. If they can pull aggy in, there seems to be a good and logical chance that they can then go after okie and/or us as they seek to expand to 16. Maybe they are fishing for bait right now, to get a real fish later.

About the exit fees, the problem is if A&M wants to join the SEC next year, they have already missed the deadline which was July 1st to declare conference affliations for the next year. So in order to be able to play in 2012 the SEC and the Big 12 will have to make a deal which will most likely end up in a higher exit fee.

I won't deny the fiscal irresponsibility but Byrne didn't bankrupt our ad.

The university gave the AD a loan because we were in the middle of building our basketball and football practice facilities and the aforementioned fiscal issues left us cash poor.

The 16 mil was a no interest loan. Its being paid back. Hell it might have already been paid back.

Legislature calling A&M to meet in Austin, this could get interesting. [IMG]

All this just so Aggie can feel important... I hope they fall to complete mediocrity for the rest of time after the dusts settles.

I hope UT joins the Big 10.. I may be living in Ohio soon so I can get to all the away games [IMG]

When A&M's share of the PUF gets dangled to representatives of Tech, UH, UNT, and enough others to get the necessary support in the legislature, you bet it will happen.

And that money dwarfs anything gained through collegiate sports.

Nebraska would strongly fight and vote against the inclusion of Texas into the Big 10.

I'm still liking the Pac 12.

A&M will pay more than UNL and CU because those guys claimed the conference was destabilized severly during last summers realignments and "they had no choice but to leave". A&M has a choice. No one is forcing their hand, in fact the NCAA and conference ruled in their favor on the most important issue.

A&M will owe 80% of 2 years if they leave for 2014 or 100% if they leave with 1 years notice (2013 since they missed june 1st). Think there is another penalty for less than six months.

Dont think the legislature doesnt have teeth. You think the reps for the areas representing Tech and Baylor, not to mention any alumni they have in the leg, arent going to raise a stink?

They could raise the stature of other state schools and designate them flagship universities, then dole out shares of aggies money to them.

Because if the Big 12 dissolves, Tech and Baylor are potentially screwed and face serious financial losses.

The tx leg. will not let aggy go to sec. Period. They wont let us go to pac 12 either, without our siblings.

A&M making spurious claims about the LHN being a breach of contract is hilarious, when A&M was clearly acting in bad faith with the 10 year pledge that led to ABC giving the conference a $1.17 billion dollar contract.

So you suggest that there is a contract that has a provision that is somehow breached by UT contracting with ESPN? Who would the parties to that contract be? What are you talking about? Are you high?

aggy believes in = revenue sharing, but give them their $20M.

aggy = no lie cheat or steal unless it benefits them

I keep hearing this "legislature" stuff.

We'll soon find out if the "legislature" can stop a school from going to another conference.

I suspect the "legislature" will do a big fat nothing.

    But we shall see.

Because aggy seem determined to go SEC.

I have siblings that are aggy and it is a shame they are leaving. aggy is so damn high on tradition that I find it ironic that they are destroying a sacred Thanksgiving day tradition that all Texans cherish.

They look like spoiled little kids that pick up their balls and leave the other kids without anything to play with.

Do you realize you look like cowards? I have lost all respect, for anything to do with aggy.

Go to the SEC. I hope you realize that you need to turn in your "I'm a proud Texan" card, because in everyone's eyes you are just a bunch of whiny butt-hurt people.

You will probably have some success in the SEC, but it will be at a cost. The Alabamas and the Floridas will be taking a larger share of Texas recruits.

I wish you all good luck. I hope your new family will treat you well, because you are dead to everyone else in the State of Texas....You big butt-hurt babies....

Nothing in the move to the SEC precludes A&M and Texas playing T-day. Chances are if the game ends, it will be at Texas that ends it, not A&M.

    silly butt hurt sip.

aggy always justifies their actions by something THE University does or something aggy thinks THE University will do. They have no identity outside their need to best THE University.

Why would the big twelve and THE University want to continue a series with crybabies who took their toys and left? Why would aggy be any different in that respect than the Corn?

    F aggy.

Get out and don't look for THE University to lend you any relevance in the future as they have in the past.
