We are having a terrible time with moles in our yard. They have been eating the bulbs and roots of our plants etc. What is the best way to get rid of these creatures? We live in the country if that might help with some of your proposed solutions. [IMG]

Moles eat worms/bugs, if something is eating your plants then it is more likely gophers. Ive caught gophers with scissor traps faily easily, but it does kill them.

I like Guaca with my mole. Some chips or fried corn tortillas to go with it is nice too.

You can get solar powered mole chasers online for fairly cheap. They also sell battery powered ones. Not sure how much area you're trying to cover, but I think the chasers are supposed to be effective for about a half acre or so. Basically its a small stake that goes into the ground and vibrates driving the ugly little creatures crazy. Some may also emit a high pitch ringing sound. I've used the battery powered ones before and had some success. Bought some solar powered ones last Spring but haven't taken them out of the box because right after I got them the mole holes quit popping up.

I had a dog once that either absolutely loved to chase moles or hated them with a passion. He would spend hours every day jumping around the yard, digging and chasing them. When we moved to a new house, after about a week, I found a small pile of about 10 dead moles in the yard.
