We can always move a Big 12 game to t-day rather than settle for Aggy is available.

    Aggy is done for me.

We could play Rice ten times a year, but as long as we have the TX/ou sucks game in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair, I'm happy and life is good!

The sheep lovers can go to the SEC where they will get to know first hand what it's like to get beat down every week to the likes of Vandy, Ole Miss, etc... aTm will soon be more of a laughing stock than they already are!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out

Nope. Let A&M go. Outside of our state, nobody gives a flip about A&M, and the Aggies haven't been a blip on the radar screen since WWII (except for their cheating decade).

Instead, set up an annual Texas-Notre Dame Thanksgiving game. It's a substantial upgrade and would be a game with nationwide "Wow!" factor.

No way we play them again if they move to the SEC. You have to keep in mind outside of Gray, Michael, and a few others on the roster, they have not recruited very well the last 4 years. This will catch up with them next year when their remaining talent will be on the same level with a Div. II team. No reason to schedule another team that will count against our BCS rating. They have just become new fodder for vandy and ole miss to kick around.

Been going to the aggy game since the early 70s. The cheating run they had in the 80s and 90s tainted the experience and made me suspect of their program when they have had some success.

Time for a new rival. and it is really "goodbye to A&M."

Don't drop the game. Start talking to ND as an alternative. After a year or two aggy will drop the series anyway. We will have tried to maintain the tradition. Once they drop the series announce ND-UT Tday. We look good, ag looks weak(er), we upgrade tday game. Win-Win-WIn

it is the fact that a&m is so wierd and their inferiority complex that makes it so fun to beat them. there is too much tradition to this game. the under 30 crowd doesnt understand or appreciate the history of this game. they see ou as the rival because of the bitter games between top 10 programs over the last dozen years or so. before that, you have to go back to the early 80's before both programs were good at the same time. we will have the game or dodds will be gone. there are too many important donors that want the game.

"Be careful what you wish for" is something I've always heard. aggy wished to be gone and they are. Time for us to move on too.

I for one will not miss the road games to collieville or those stupid milkmen or the nut squeezing corp.

General, I am in the over 30 crowd by about 21 years, and I am GLAD those idiots are gone. I echo the post about the bonfire year and the true "character" of the animal we call "aggie".

I can remember some great games, like the 74 game we were supposed to slaughtered in and we were up 17-0 in first 5 minutes. But, I can;t stand those guys and am glad they are gone

"Texas Fight! Texas Fight! And it's goodbye to.....oklahoma?" Yeah that fits really well...

I don't see what the big deal is. Of course we keep the A&M game, if we can. 100 years of tradition doesn't just go away because of a conference change. Nor does the money from the Thanksgiving Day game.

    1. For Horns, there is no upside to playing aggie. If we win, the whole nation says, "So what. You beat a team that no one cares about."
    2. Tech has been stronger than aggie in the Big XII, as someone said. Tech has also drawn more recent national attention than aggie.
    3. We shouldn't worry about taking the blame for not playing. If anything, we should embrace the idea. We can do a lot better, and aggie can not.

    Absolutely not.

They are leaving the Big 12 to get away from Texas. Why then should they be allowed to play Texas.

That would be like me leaving my wife and then expecting her to sleep with me now and then.

The Aggies are dumasses. Let them wallow in their dumbassedness.

I missed Arkansas when they left because to me, having grown up in the '60s, the Razorbacks were a rival.

And I'd sure as hell miss OU if anything ever happened to that rivalry.

But A&M is just like SMU, TCU, Baylor or any of the SWC cupcakes. They hate us more than they like themselves but the passion isn't reciprocated because they're insignificant.

They're like goldfish. If one dies, you don't grieve. You just get another one.

Everyone that says they don't care or don't want us to play ATM is wrong.
This is a big part of the UT identity and cannot be changed.

I have really come to enjoy the tradition of the A&M game and hope that we do continue to play them.

While A&M will probably have about as much success as Arkansas in the SEC, it is pretty clear that is where they belong.

Now Mr. Byrne, is going to try and pull off a little magic act here. He's going to try a little misdirection. He’s going to astonish you with stories of rituals, and dazzle you with official sounding terms like, “code of honor,” and “tradition.” He might even try and cut into a few alumni for you. He’ll have no evidence mind you, none. But it’s going to be entertaining.

And when we get to the end, all the magic in the world will not have been able to divert your attention from the fact that the atm game with TEXAS is dead, and Bill Byrne killed it. These are the facts of the case. And they are indisputed.

we have missed the obvious ; after the demise of the ol' southwest conference,we have played okie now as a conf and divisional rival with national implication almost every year 2001 ,02 ,04 ,05 ,06 ,08 ,and 09...the aggie none..therefore the rivalry has waned ,,,and now with their impending move: like an old soldier it wont die ...it will just fade away...

put some big conditions on playing aggy:

they must pay back double the blood money they took from ku and the rest of the weak sisters that Texas and OU turned down.

They must play 2 for 1(two home games for Texas)

They pay 500K for the right to play Texas each year in addition to any other fees or payments that would accompany any payments.

All of that to make up for the strength of schedule hit Texas will take by playing them.

Sound like a lot? too bad, you should have stayed and then Texas would be forced to put up with aggy BS.

I am much closer to 50 than you are. You probably don't even remember before Mack Brown was the coach. I don't say that as an insult, but it is sad to me that you don't have a feeling for the tradition of the UT vs A&M game.
It sucks to think that the 'Horns could now have a schedule that does not include A&M or Arkansas.

The TX/AM game will happen again someday.

But that probably won't be for a few dozen years.

First, they have to take their medicine.

    Strong medicine at that.

Hell NO! aggy needs this game financially and exposure wise a lot more than Texas does. That's why they are begging to keep the series alive.
Why let aggy get what they want from us? What are they willing to offer in return? Nothing! So kill the series.
