Is it me or does it seem like he runs in slow motion?? Kinda reminds me of watching Eric dickerson highlights.
I was very impressed with his running ability. He looks controlled, balanced and smooth at a speed that is much faster than everyone else on the field. He also did a great job setting up blocks and cutting appropriately after the blocker engaged. He hits the hole extremely fast and is through the line even with just a small crease. He looked like he didn't care much about blocking himself on pass plays and such, that was about the only negative I saw.
...or on kickoff returns. Did anyone else notice the late hits and dirty play of Birdville in the 3rd quarter? There was a run of about 8 plays in which he was hit late, hit late out of bounds, hit late while already on the ground and then twisted after the play was over. I was pretty impressed - especially given the weather.
I watched him for the first time last night. Reading about his instantaneous change of direction is one thing, but watching it happen is another. Wow! He can play. Birdwell held Gray to 108 yards rushing and three TD's...in the first quarter.
The RB from Birdville was pretty salty. He's a sophomore, and if he keeps it going like last night he will get some offers.
He reminds me more of Tony Dorsett. Not likely to have near the success, but looks very similar in style...
I switched back and forth between the World Series and watching Gray. Best World Series game I ever saw but that's a whole another thread on a different board. Johnathan Gray definitely contribute next year. Like others said, he will need to improve his blocking. He'll be awesome in the Wildcat formation with Malcolm and DJ.
Since greg davis is no longer here he will see the field. As we all know too well, freshman RBs who couldn't do everything well w/o the ball didn't play for GD. Sorry to bring up our ole buddy but I just couldn't help it
Watched the replay of last night's game. I saw Eric Dickerson play in high school, David Overstreet and many others who are considered all-time greats. I think Gray is the best I have ever seen, at least in high school.
