I know, those are big words and it's very early but, I am watching a style and power that really reminds me of Earl.

Agree, in the Rice game the balance in combo w/ moves & vision.

    1st half - TTU -

    Joe B:

    113 yds on 13 carries.

I'm not sure he quite has Earl's wheels, but he's definitely got strength. It's amazing what a line that gives you a couple yards head start can do to help guys run with authority.

Mmmm, don't think so, not quite bulldozer enough. Earl would knock people backwards and keep going. Joe's a bit shiftier than Earl.
I'm trying to think of who JoeB reminds me of - maybe Jim Brown?
And between those two, I don't know I could feel comfortable taking one and then playing against the other.

Umm. The kid looks outstanding, but let's not do this comparison for a while. How many 'Little Earls" have we annointed prematurely through the years? Remember we are talking Kansas and TT here...

edited for memory lapse corrected Iowa St with Kansas

Earl Campbell? Looks like a great running back against a pretty poor defense.

Yeah, Earl is incomparable, IMHO... it's just little style/gifted-ness things that remind me.

He has some Earlish qualities. Low pad level, balance, small waist and massive thighs.

I agree that Earl is incomparable, but I definitely see what you mean.

Regardless of who he runs like, right now I'm just hoping they didn't get him hurt leaving him in after the game was decided.

    Jim Bob, I do agree.

While there is no doubt that Earl was one-of-a-kind, I do see a style and mannerisms in Bergeron that are eerily similar...

Kid has some wheels but a long way to go before we start comparing him to Earl. Nice to see that with Malcolm unavailable the running game didnt miss a beat.

On the Longhorn Network, Priest Holmes suggested that the Texas coaches should be careful about overplaying Bergeron (and Brown the week earlier?), lest they suffer unnecessary wear/tear/injuries. Given that Priest knows a thing or two about rushing in the college and NFL, I hope its advice that Harsinwhite pay attention to.

Agree with JIM Bob. I was just complaining about the need to get him out when he got dinged. On the postgame, Mack called it cramps though.

I have to say, my sports fanatic friend I was sitting with said about the same thing... "That run reminds me of Earl...." Nice to see all the talented youth on the field, and I'm including Harsin in this category!

I'm sorry but I was at UT when Earl was there and trust me, while 24 has had some great games, he is not another Earl. I watched Joe asked to be taken out of the game twice. No matter how winded or tired Earl was, he would drag his butt back to the huddle just in time for it to break and for him to line up. Then Earl would break another 8 to 10 yard run. Plus, Joe's tighs are no where near Earl's.

No. He ran out of steam needs to work a little harder on conditioning.

Early reports are he went out with cramps. I'm more concerned with MB and his turf toe. It's nice to see the Texas running game back to a smash mouth attitude. [IMG]

I must admit that when he rambled into the end zone on one of his carries with his arms flailing to maintain his balance, it did remind me of Earl.

Must remember Texas has been against 2 of worst defenses in nation last 2 weeks. With Gray coming on board the Texas running game which did not exist last year will be one of the best in the nation next season against anyone IMO.

I see a little Earl, a little Butch Hadnot, and a little Ricky. In any case the kid is fun to watch. Better not get injured or someone might just take your job. If we have that situation at every position then you will know the program is back. [IMG]
