The big 12 is so much better than it was in 2005

No doubt we had a better team in 2005 but remember how bad the big 12 sucked that year? Only A&M gave us anything to worry about and all they did was cost Vince the Heisman.

There was no other team even close to this year's OU, OkState, Baylor, K State, A&M, or Mizzou.

Would this year's team have run the table in 2005? Probably not but I bet we would have had at least a 10 win season unless they were overly stubborn about playing Ash like they have been. Come to think of it I think we would have won the last 2 games if Case got to play the entire game. And I bet the Oklahoma State game comes down to a nailbiter. I don't think Case is any barnburner but I think he's clearly more accurate a passer than any other quarterback we've had in the last 2 years. We aren't good enough to spot another quality team 1/2 our possessions. Too bad Case has gotten cheated out of the reps he was rightly due, he might be a helluva lot better than he is.

Wrong on so many counts. The 05 team would have easily run the table on the 2011 Big XII conference. That defense was so much better than anything this conference has right now its not even close. 8 starters of that defense played in the NFL, the entire starting defensive backfield. They would have killed these offenses. Add to that the best offense in the history of the Big XII and you have a team so head and shoulders over this mediocre bunch of teams that I have a hard time seeing any 2011 Big XII team being within 21 points.

As for Case McCoy, I really havent had a strong feeling one way or other on the qb debate but ;ast night likely ends it for now as Case will start last two games and get his shot to prove things one way or other. He looked terrible in Texas' last three possessions last night so lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. Ash has had some real WTF moments and just seems to pick the worst possible times to remind us all he is a true freshman and will make true freshman mistakes.

Yeah, this year's big 12 is damn good. I think there are legitimately 5-6 top 25 caliber teams that have mostly beat the crap out of each other and made their records look worse than they are. OU, OSU and KSU are legit top 15 teams. Baylor can beat anyone in the country on any given night. So could we, if we have a mediocre but mistake free game from a QB for 4 quarters. A&M is a good team. Iowa State and Tech as the 3rd and 2nd worst teams in the conference have each knocked off a top 5 team. The only team that truly sucks in Kansas.

I was someone who wanted us to move to the Big 10 or Pac 10. But if this is the type of football we could expect year in and year out in the new whatever the hell it is, I'll be a happy fan. Its better and more compelling than any conference save for the SEC right now. And for the first time, I find myself following the conference and having an interest in whats going on outside of Texas. Watching OSU/Iowa State, or Baylor/OU is actually entertaining to me, and something I never would have done when the conference was Texas, OU and the 10 dwarfs.

The only thing the difference in conference depth would have meant is Texas would have been much more likely to have a slip up.
