Has there ever been a season where the Bears notched wins over both OU and Texas? I'd say their chances are quite good this year

I'm very impressed with the strides they've made as a program and yeah, there's a very real chance they could knock us off this year.

They'll likely take a big step back when RG3 is gone but for now... they've got the best team Baylor has had in a many years.

supposedly ole miss is taking a hard look at briles.

not sure that he'd leave, but i'd imagine that job is enough to make him take pause.

i fully recognize that this is unlikely.

but RG3 has graduated. technically he can play wherever he wants next year without having to wait a year.

if art briles does to to ole miss then maybe....

i know it's completely unrealistic. just a random thought.

    What if ...

Texas had recruited RGIII as something other than "athlete"?

I would not be shocked if RG III stayed at Baylor next year, and I would be quite surprised if Briles left for Mississipi State regardless of what RG III does.

let's see, what could Mississippi have to offer RGIII? He needs to think seriously about transferring if he wants to win the Heisman, needs to go to a school that is on the verge of becoming a serious winner, a school with a great offensive coordinator would be a plus.

Does anybody think he would seriously take a recruiting tour? Would schools be able to pay for his visits?

If he and Briles went together would Briles have a "recruiting edge" remaining in Texas or would he lose all of that since it's been so long since Briles coached HS in Texas?

I don't see Briles going to Mississippi. One, that's not much of a step up from Baylor and two, his style of offense doesn't really fit the SEC mold. Also, one of his strengths is his relationships with the Texas HS coaches. He's not going to recruit that many Texas kids to go to MU.

As for RGIII - I've wondered myself about him going somewhere else to play his last year. He's already in grad school, so he could do a Russell Wilson deal if he chose. I think he's too loyal to do that, but it would be his best chance to win the Heisman. OTOH, next year he would start as a legitimate candidate, so if Kendall Wright has another year, he'd have a decent chance at BU.

Out of curiosity, has Briles received any other head coaching offers while he has been at Baylor? Anyone who understands the history of their program knows that he has done an excellent job there.

Yeah, that's right. His name was thrown around along with Sonny Dykes, Ruffin McNeal, and others for the Tech job. That was before he had had a winning season at Baylor and I'm not sure if an interview took place.

I'm not a fan of Art Briles, but I do like RGIII, and this Baylor team has been damn fun to watch this year.
