No taunting?

I think an appeal should be made to the league regarding the horns down gesture. Its not like a player is celebrating his team's success, he is putting another team down explicitly with such a gesture. It would be like putting a sooner schooner down on the field and stomping on it to celebrate an interception or touchdown or whatever.

They way I see it, if Texas doesn't want them to taunt, they shouldn't let them let them kick their ***.

I think it is a penalty by def. Surprised the flag wasn't throw.
Punk moves like that are why when some guys break legs you don't feel too bad.

It should be a penalty. Period. .

That no-call totally screwed us on that drive. If the call gets made, it's an unsportsmanlike on Baylor and instead of being 1st and goal from the 1, it's 1st and goal 10-15 yards back. That's no guaranteed touchdown for BU. We hold them to 3 on that drive is huge. Totally screwed by that no-call.

I can see fans doing it because by definition they are fanatics (and idiots). But when players do it, it just looks so juvenile. I just picture a little brother whining "I'm just as good as you are!" More pathetic than anything.

If Quan's leap is a penalty then surely the Horns down by a player is also.

Didn't a Baylor player get flagged for doing a thumbs down against aggy?

Same player just did the horns down again after the interception. Again, no penalty.

And yet we have previously gotten a flag for doing horns-up to the crowd. [IMG]

Another Horns down after an interception! This needs to stop one way or another. Mack needs to get pissed and start bitching hard.

Taunting called on the last INT.

Baylor radio announcers: "What?! When did the horns down become a penalty? If that's a penalty, I'd be flagged all day long."

Yes, let's not call it until the game is decided. [IMG] [IMG]

Look...the last time these guys beat us twice was 20 years ago. the next time might take another 20 years. Hence, for the small dicks that, inevitably, inhabit all schools, the horns down is catarrhis...in their puiny little lives, in their totally insignificant school, this game is their defining moment...possibly for the rest of their lives.

Unless the DB who did the horns down has a stellar NFL career ahead of him, he'll be selling insurance. This is his moment...his whole life, in fact!

Its embarassing that you guys are crying about this. They could have called it 10 times and it wouldn't have helped this inept offense score enough points to stay with Baylor.

Are you people really griping about horns down? That's just embarrassing.

We're griping about it because it's a penalty, plain and simple. We'd complain if constant holding wasn't called. We'd complain if multiple blatant facemasks weren't called. Horns down by a player on the field is a penalty and it should be called. If the fans want to do it, fine. If the players on the sideline want to do it, fine. But if we're going to get penalized for Horns Up (which we have), then the officials should enforce THEIR rules and call it. That's all the posters on this thread are saying.

    Enforce YOUR rules.

And no, it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game, but that isn't the point of this thread.

Horns down signal used to get my blood boiling. But now, I look at it as a subtle form of flattery. If you're gonna be associated with UT, get used to being hated. There are no lukewarm supporters of the Horns in good times or bad.

If I remember correctly, Vince didn't like it too much and kicked the crap out of some guy. I graduated in '82 and I have NEVER appreciated someone doing a horns down and I NEVER will! Pisses me off......

My only real complaint is that it wasn't called the entire game until the very end when the outcome was no longer in question. Surely the refs saw it the first 40 times it was done. It's either a penalty or not. Be consistent.
