a private message is for sure the way to go. I believe it is even a posting guideline. They don't and cannot read all posts in all threads. I presume they check their messages with more frequency. ______________________________ It seems odd that the owners of a business that is closed without warning for days on end would not make a general post or some other acknowledgement to its customers about the reason for the unexpected closure, and some plan to prevent it from happening again. I am a paying customer here, but the recent flurry of multi-day outages makes me wonder if it's worth it. Especially if the owners won't even deign to favor us with some reason why this is happening.
How about thanking the providers of this site instead of bitching about every technical glitch. Its a buch of electronic gizmos hooked into the internet. It ain't always gonna work right. Get over it. I enjoy the community of HornFans, and it has taken a lot of work to keep it going. The owners do have regular jobs, and from what I understand this is a labor of love, where they try to break even financially. Quityerbitchin and lets all exten a laurel and hardy handshake to the Agnors!
Are they really just breaking even? Didn't they pay that Bob Wheeler guy $100,000 several years back.
You may want to research web revenue generated by ads and how things changed. I forget the exact year but the bottom fell out. Don't know for fact what money changed hands to Wheeler so I am not going to take guesses. But you don't make oodles of dollars like before.
Oh no, it's a goner for sure. Seriously, ad revenue for banner ads dropped dramatically over time. Hopefully somebody who has seen the changes will chime in with how much. I don't know the numbers.
Holy Jeebus! All I did was ask and suggest that the owners should communicate with us so that the regulars here can have an understanding of the issues that cause this place to shut down. That apparently is a crime as far as the dimwit groupies are concerned. It is obvious that we appreciate this site - that is why we are here. Those of us who have issues with the site being down all the time (and the dated look and feel of the site) voice our suggestions/comments because we in fact give a **** and want this site to improve. PM is the obvious vehicle but it is also important for the owners/admins to realize that it isn't just one person's opinion. Many feel the same way. I know of numerous others who now post elsewhere. And it doesn't have to be that way.
I don't think Bill was complaining, I think he, like some of us, were wondering what happened to the site. I noticed it down right after the Baylor loss and at first I thought it overloaded with posts. I am a member of another site, and it does go down often and who knows why. I think the Agnors go way out of their way to providing this site. I am sure they have their hands full with their work and are not able to be constantly monitoring the different boards. I think most posters wanted to know what actually happened, and if there was anything any one could do.
I like this site. It's easy to use and I get a lot of timely info.........and it's free. No complaints here.
It does seem strange that there has been no communication regarding the down time, as has been done numerous times in the past. For whatever shortcomings the site may have, it has great content, good conversation and debate. It it is free! No one is making me spend my time on the site. I miss it when it is down, but I have nothing to complain about.
I missed you guys!!!! To think that I was gonna try and go back to Orangebloods..... LOL What tha hell was I thinking?! I love reading most of your posts, and I love the insight from some of the posters here, too!! It's what keeps this Texas gal informed, at least in some aspects!
I have taken some time to compose myself over some of these stupid posts.Enough is enough is enough already. Robert and Katy have provided more grass roots support for UT sports both on this board and on the ground than anyone I know-both here and on the road. They should be contrulated for all they do. Yes, I missed a few days, but so what. Get over it. Serveral posters are imature, incondiderate, selfish, juvenile, and foul mouthed, and totally uniformed. I generally do not post, but some on this thread have me riled up. Pay up or shut up or go somewhere else with your vitriaul. Where are the real friends of the Agnors? Bring it on. I am going to start defending this board and call some of you out.
Whew I hope I am not one you are calling out RDGP65. When I started this thread the web site had been down a few days and I meant for it to mean that I missed it and was glad it was back and nothing more. I figured there may have been technical problems which happens from time to time. In no way did I expect posts to come that were critical or I would not have started this post at all.
Not calling you out Bill. Legitimate post. I e-mailed Katy, but got no answer. I just thought they were fixing the problem. It's the other jokers who come out every once and a while that are unfair.
Go ahead and bang. Who cares about some geeky clock? I go to this board for information and conversation, not some technical analysis. BTW did you read all of the posts such as the ones from Wash and Chicken?
