Texas TE/H-back Blaine Irby’s collegiate career will end where it began. The California product will not seek a medical hardship that would have granted another year of eligibility, Irby announced on Thursday.

Dang, I was looking forward to having him on the field next year. He was hitting his stride in the 2nd half of this season. Thanks Blaine and good luck in your future endeavors!

Glad to see that he worked so hard to get back to the game. I know he'll lead by example in future endeavors.

Now we're only left with about 21 other scholarships TEs.

I was really hoping he would be back. But I think we can all agree that with his work ethic and determination there is nothing he will not be able to do in life. He represented the university very well and was an inspiration to many people. I'm very proud to have had him and Fozzy in Texas uniforms and just wish their careers with Texas were ending on a better note.

This is probably the high point of the season IMO. I remember when walking normaly was in question for him, and for him to fight all the way back and contribute is nothing short of miraculous. I can't believe ESPN didn't jump on this story. Kid is a winner, big time.

Not really a surprise. What a remarkable, dedicated, and admirable player and team mate. Blaine will always be a hero to Longhorn Nation.

Could he not have developed into a possible NFL TE with another year? [IMG]

Intelligent decision, Blaine. Being in my 50s and having ACL surgeries, I'm glad for him. He faces a lot of discomfort and pain down the road as is, the sooner he retires the better off he'll be.

His was the worst knee injury I EVER SAW. Just coming back was really a miracle. [IMG]

I too wished he would have come back for 1 more year but my gosh - wait an incredible comeback story to do what he did... return to the field and START... not only that he had one of, if not, the best catches / catches for TD in 2011 [IMG]

BEST WISHES TO YOU BLAINE IRBY!!! [IMG]
