'Tis the season and I was at the Dallas Galleria today and went into this store called The Student Union which has great collegiate sports gear. Every school, everything imaginable. There was a sign in the front window that said something about 30% off and had a bunch of fine print.

I, just being so damn witty that I can't stand myself, walk up to the sales clerk (SC) and ask her if the 30% sale applied only to Aggy stuff.

SC: No, it's more that that.

69; Ha. Good one. (the girl must have a good sense of humor.)

SC: All Aggy items are 50% off.

    69: For real?

SC: Yep. All other schools are "buy one and the 2nd is 30% off."

    69: You're joking, right?

SC: No! All Aggy items are 50% off.

    69: That's not for real.

    SC: Yes it is.

69: Stunned, I laugh and walk out.

Either this lady is a big jokester, straight serious face and all, or The Student Union has just told Aggy, "don't let the door hitcha where the good Lord splitcha."

    Merry Christmas to all!

Hey, this is your chance to buy a bunch of aggy stuff cheap and wear or otherwise display it upside down.

One second thought, that's a really stupid thing to do...

    Here's another:

Went to Hawaii several years ago (2007 I think). Went to the mall at Ala Moana and walked into this store that sold only hats. Sports ball caps to be more specific. They had alot of different teams, ofcourse lots of UHawaii hats, all the PAC10, Mountain West, Michigan tOSU, Penn St., Texas, Nebraska, Alabama, ect. You get the idea. However, I did not see any aggy hats. I ask the clerk why they did not have any aggy hats, and he said, and I quote, "we only carry the major universities". I smiled, said "thank you", and continued to enjoy my vacation. [IMG]

Sounds like everyone is dumping everything aggy which can only mean the SEC aggy stuff is coming. They are trying to rebrand (i.e. walking away from all tradition) to establish their "new" we are as good as anyone identity.

Fine detective work there H69 and "good bull". From what you said I think the clerk was serious and not joking....

This tells you all you need to know about the fan base and mindset at agricultural & mechanical college of Texas as they head for greener grass in the SEC.

    Merry Christmas Woo-Woo!

    Maryland, that was funny.

If Aggs are re-branding I hope they change that stupid logo to more postage stamp size and change colors.

I am in the Navy and move a lot, but:
I have been able to watch 90% of all UT games in Hawaii, Maine, South Carolina, and New York, all on regular cable channels, since 2003. This includes every game of the 2005 season in Hawaii. This year is the first year since I left Texas I had to miss more than one game in a year... because of the LHN. I also don't understand why Aggy left to the SEC for more exposure- aren't they on TV every week too? In those same locations stores carried UT gear, along with other popular college sports teams.. Never Aggy gear.

    Merry Christmas Horn69 and Cheers!!!

One thing I have never commented about is the noticeable decline of a$m stickers, Century Club, 12th Place Fan and a$m Former Student stickers on vehicles I have seen in the DFW area over the last 8-10 years... but it is noticeable and significant at least to me.

Based on the OP and my own observations: Being aggy is NOT cool and they are about to become even more of a non factor in the SEC than they were in the Big VII.

aggy is going to be battling Ole Miss and Miss Aggie for the scraps in the SEC West.

Living in Salt Lake City, I happened across a UT branded ref flag that would yell insults to referees after striking the ground when thrown -- in a 7-11 no less. There was Utah, BYU and Texas.

I thought it was funny when I visited the Marble Falls Wal-Mart over the holiday, walking by the college gear display devoted to two (and only two) proud Texas institutions: Texas and Texas Tech.

WalMart in Highland Village (between Dallas and Denton) also has two schools on prominent display, Texas and Oklahoma. You have to go to the back of the display for your Tech, aggie and UNT gear. [IMG]
