Our Oline was pathetic the first half. Apparently (per Shuttleswoirth on Inside Texas), Searels broke 2 headsets and roundly cursed them at halftime. The improvement in the secnd half was clear. Mack stated that Espinosa was unable to work out, adequately, in the weight room because of his spring shoulder injury; I'd expect Wylie to deal with this in the off-season.

What DOES bother me is that we have seen other teams (Washington) with very young QBs perform very well. Maybe our QBs have a less steep learning curve, or its something else.

Mack did come out and say (postgame) that he expected (as in the 2003-2005 season) us to be in a BCS bowl next year and, hopefully, be in the NC game the year after.

Maybe our lack of performance at WR is due to terrible QB play! We have recruited many 4 star, top 100 guys who simply do not pan out.

Davis was good at the start of the 2010 season.

We not run pass plays the make WRs look good: hit a guy in stride moving down field, we prefer sideways or come back, where there is not momentum after the catch.

Due to inexperienced QB? Still would like to have seen an attempt at it. The Wash QB tore up Baylor, WR were open all day and that tight end is nails (oh well).

I want to win and get to a BCS game next year. A USC/pro style passing game is my ideal. Probably more likely to attract 5 star WR too.

    Will Ash improve his accuracy?
If not he's just not going to be the answer.

You do have to give him credit for not turning the ball over though.

Really? So you watched this game and saw something more than charitably mediocre play from Ash? 3rd down conversion rate was? Even the pass to Irby was way underthrown . . . thank god he was so open.

You can call Case bad (I do) but Ash is a disaster in the passing game. If McCoy or Ash are the future, I won't be needing any shades.

One thing I did see was the Baylor defense that ***-raped Case McCoy get lit up like a pinball machine by the powerhouse Washington Huskies.
I'll take meh over McCoy any day of the week, especially when meh can improve with reps in practice.

Ash was not good against Cal. He was awful in most of the first half. I give him credit for the nice completions to Irby and Goodwin, but they were wide open by 5+ yards. I would hope any QB at Texas could complete a pass to wide open receivers. The incompletions due to inaccuracy were numerous, including the long one to a wide open Goodwin that wound up out of bounds.

Against a good defense you aren't going to have many completely wide open receivers like that. When there is any semblance of coverage, Ash can barely complete a pass much less sustain a drive. He is just very inaccurate. Ash looked great on the TD catch. (a future at H-back perhaps?)

The coaches must have decided that McCoy isn't a good enough athlete to be our starter, so they just want to go ahead and give Ash the experience going into next year. Hey, I agree McCoy isn't great, he's just better than Ash this year.

They wanted the best chance to win against A&M so they started McCoy. They probably figured we would kill Cal even with Ash so they decided to give him the experience and start to prepare for next year. I think we can expect to see Ash for the entirety of next season. I sure hope he can improve his accuracy.

I cringe with Ash in with 3rd and long.
If I feel that way how must the team feel?
Either that has to change or the quarterback has to change.
