    The Link

I had to laugh at part of the article. "But if you're not going to touch it there and you want to touch it, then listen to us and let's try to help you grow." It sounds a lot like a clip I watched on the Internet at some point or another.

I thought we tried this line of thinking before when GD was here. And I thought the explanation why he couldn't play WR was because he couldn't hack it. I wonder what Harsin/Major/Wyatt's roles are in this.

It's so weird that everyone in the world knows exactly what would help when DJ is in (NOT giving him the ball on jet sweeps every single time), yet we can't figure out a way to use him other than handing him the ball. I thought that he would fit Fozzy's role nicely, but I'm guessing the durability and brains are hindering that responsibility from him. Hell, just teach him to run a fade and then throw an incomplete pass over his head. At least it'll show that we COULD do something other than hand the ball off to him.

I would think one could design some good plays that come off of the fly sweep action. One in particular would be a wheel route off the fly sweep. Imagine you are the safety responsible for run support to that side and then you see DJ turn up field on a fly route. You just gave a guy that doesn't need an extra step at least one if not two steps. If he can consistently catch the ball, he adds a great dynamic to the passing game which only enhances the running game due to the pressure put on the opponents safeties.

"Uh, no. You want to waste an opportunity of getting the ball to Shipley, Brown, Bergeron, or Gray?"

Showing that we'll use people other than the aforementioned in plays other than jet sweeps will result in the aforementioned having an easier time getting the ball.

My interpretation: DJ, if you want more touches, CATCH THE BALL!

Plus, it would be nice to see that speed and evasiveness on returns but that requires the proper mindset and you have to CATCH THE BALL.

I hope DJ develops these skills and quickly. I love his potential but it seems he ran the end around every time he was in the game last year. I know that is an exageration but it seemed that way and defenses were able to adjust.

He better catch the ball or else he's gonna play the same position as in this formation.

Texas Taps, on this one I have to agree with Horns11. Another deep threat would be a nice diversion after feeding the ball to our deep RB group. Now if only the pass is on the money and is caught, that may be still unanswered.

What ever happened to student body right or student body left?. IF we are gonna be a power running team suely we can throw a fullback in front of him and find a guard or two that can pull. I'm sure Oklahoma is praying we cannot find a way to use this guy....and laughing because we havn't already

You're misunderstanding me. When I said "the aforementioned," I was referring to Shipley, Brown, and Gray. If we show opponents that we will attempt to use someone other than Shipley, Brown, or Gray (no matter how poorly the play is executed), then it will make it easier for Shipley, Brown, and Gray to produce when an opponent on defense has to account for guys like Monroe, Harris, Grant, Davis, etc.

That's why I threw in the kicker about throwing a pass over his (Monroe's) head. Even if we design a poor play to get him the ball downfield, it still scares the **** out of an opponent enough to make them prepare for it, leaving fewer eyes on Shipley, Brown, and Gray for big plays. Capice?

You mad at Bergeron? Hell, if you want to waste a play then throw a pass to Poehlmann. That'll f**k up a defense [IMG]

Just show him some highlights of that prick from Philadelphia Eagles and say if you want to be a millionaire, you need to be like this guy, cause you are not going to do it at tailback.

So attack the defense both horizontally and vertically, making the defense cover every area of the field, spreading them thin? Instead of breaking two or three tackles, you only have to break one?

    I vote for Joe!!!!!

^ Agree with Stat. Thought Ramonce was good (on the field, anyway).
