I was hoping Purdue would have hosted at Wrigley. From the all I care about is me files.. I'll go to LSU, Oregon, UCLA, Arizona regionals if Texas gets sent. I'll go to any of them if Texas and Washington get sent to the same regional.
I feel sorry for any teams that start off stoked to be in the post season and then have to play in College Station or Waco. Imagine flying into Austin and thinking all is cool. Load up on a bus and then fade into nothingness. Then you arrive at Waco!!! Yay, what a reward.
^^^ Sad commentary, but I bet the 'Horns would be happy in either venue at this point. Actually, with the upgrade in facilities and its locale on the Brazos, I'd much rather play in Waco than Collieville.
Fire Harman and get somebody who has enough energy and motivation to travel outside of Central Texas to recruit and who doesn't sit on his butt in his Austin office and watch film. Harmon has gotten incredibly lazy and its really beginning to show. Texas needs a hitting coach too; Harmon clearly ain't it. Harmon should go join Debbie's real estate firm. Maybe he could find something there that he's actually good at. Augie said privately (a few years after he took over the UT program) that he wished he had brought in his own staff when he came to Texas. Now is the time for Garrido to finish bringing in his own staff. If he doesn't, the greatest D1 baseball coach of all time may not be around (at least at Texas) much longer. I love the guy and have followed him since he was first at Fullerton, so that would be sad to see him end his magnificent career like that. Get a recruiting/hitting coach who has some energy/motivation. The University of Texas has so much to offer. Find somebody who won't take it for granted.
Interesting. At least one writer (on the SEBaseball/Rivals site) has Texas in the Houston regional: Link
Well-stated, Pericles!! Augie, please talk to Mack and hurry!! This great program deserves so much more!
