It might not hurt to completely miss the regionals. Might put some determination to achieve next year in those coming back.
As crappy as the season has been texas is still going to get a bid, probably a three seed in Rice regional. 2 and que seems inevitable but you never know.
I'm not sure we're a Regional lock. If it's us and Stony Brook for the last spot, I think they get in. Be forewarned, Horns11 hates miscapitalized state names almost as much as emoticons.
Why should we go to the Regionals? We would just be taking a spot away from somebody that might actually win a game.
The Hosting sites(host and you are in) are announced Sunday, with the field of 64 being fleshed out Monday at noon eastern time on ESPNU.
And Horns11 is "nearly" as annoying as an aggy. If he/she gets annoyed over type that boy/girl must be fun to be around. Not.
In addition to many things, the Austin Statesman online, and ESPN, are scant on news about the Big 12 weekend baseball tournament. As a matter of fact, for years now ESPN doesn't even have a main category of College / Baseball. Have yet to figure that one out. EDIT 10:40 pm Sat evening news.... it's Missouri-Oklahoma for the tournament title Sunday. If OU wins, it favors UT getting a bid into the NCAAs. So, need the departing Tigers to bow out without the title and w/o hurting Horns' chances, and I've no problem with an OU win.
Yep our weak hitting has waisted some great efforts from many very good pitchers over those 3 years. We don't need HR hitters just some hitters that make consistent contact and hit doubles to be successful.
FWIW, the SEBaseball/Rivals site has Texas in the Houston regional: Link. Meanwhile, ESPN has them on the outside looking in: Link. I don't think they deserve to make it this year, but we'll know soon enough I guess.
Baseball America has Texas as the first team out due to Mizzou winning the Big 12 Tourney. That seems more likely that us in Houston. I would rather be in and keep the streak alive than not!
What if by not making it as a bubble team where there is legit argument to making it and not, lessons are learned, changes are made and the team/program stops treading water? Would it be worth not making it to likely flame out in two quick games?
^^^ I would hope the lesson has already been learned. If not, there are much bigger problems to deal with.
Just flip a coin. I don't know that we have even odds making it in. Either way, it is what it is, and hopefully everyone learns something. Of course, the injuries could be the final straw as to us being taken.
