If she is going to be replaced, my guess is that CP has "learned" from the women's basketball hire and will only go after someone who is currently in the field of 16. Which means no talk of it until after the tournament.
Yeah, surely he wants to leave his dream job and a school that can pay him as much as us and come here. I mean, it's ugly there, they get no support in their ancient and antiquated facilities. I hear getting shoes is tough there too. Everybody wants to come to Texas no matter what. Hold your breath.
So the Series has been over for a week and nothing about a replacement for Clark. How long can this go on? Years? Decades?
Holly Kern, our best recruit for next year is the Gatorade Player of Texas and the Dallas Player of the year. I think your wishes have been washed away this year. I am sure CP did an evaluation as to where we have been, where we are and where we are headed and it looks like Clarks job is secure for at least the next year.
major if so then look for the pattern to continue. Start year off good but level off. Maybe barely win the first round but lose the next one and once again no world series while teams like Oklahoma go there and at least play for NCs while we will be at home for five years then. It is commendable for players like CAT to be loyal to their coach but underachievement is not good.
Looking at the teams in the College World Series, I think we finished about right this year. I don't see Luna as dominate as those pitchers that I saw in the College World Series. Don't get me wrong, I have my doubts about Clark. However, Women's college softball is a different animal then most sports in college. I think the bigger question then Clark is Plonsky. We have seen a general decline in Women's sports since CP started hiring people. Again, softball is a tough sport to judge whether a coach is doing a good job or not. Is Clark an elite coach, in my opinion no. Is she a good coach, I would say so. Unless we can hire one of those elite coaches, which I think there are 3-4 in the nation, I would rather stay with the status quo.
One more thing, Clark's teams have never given up. They have always fought when they were behind. We have seen give up in teams when you know the coach has lost the team. Mackovic in 1997, Penders in what 1997, Gail this past year, the soccer team this past year....... Clark's teams did not give up against AM or in the Regional, they kept showing that TEXAS FIGHT!!!!
Since 2006 we have not had any NCs in Women's Sports when we usually had one every other year or so. Both NCs since then have been in Men's sports. But give volleyball credit because they have been in the top action losing only to final NCs.
I don't know whether it was reported accurately, but my recollection is that JE was said at the time to be Plonsky's first hire. Now I shall have to go steam clean myself for having posted something that can be construed as a defense of that wicked woman.
According to your article Chris Plonsky was not the Women's AD at the time, so technically she did not hire him. You say tomatoe and I say tomato......I am sure she had some influence there but hey.....
Well, looks like there will be no change. How much longer is this going to last? It is a farce that we are not continually in the top 5-6 teams in this sport. Ridiculous.
