Richard Dawson gone

Always liked "Hogan's Heroes" and the schemes Newkirk & co. would cook up to foil Col. Klink and Gen. Burkhalter -- clever writing Dawson made the most of. Less a fan of game shows in general though "Family Feud" better than most. He took it and made it such a success that SNL parodied the game show in what is now a classic.

Aw man, totally a favorite of mine growing up. Rest in peace, Mr. Dawson and thanks for the memories.

I used to find it somewhat disconcerting, that people I have followed for much of my life keep dying. Now not so much.

Great as Newkirk; smarmy and bordering on creepy on Family Feud.

 

Newkirk...man that's a blast from my childhood. My dad loved Hogan's Heroes.

I always enjoyed his self-parody as a game show host in 'The Running Man'.
