voter fraud exposed!! First the drug test for welfare benefits failure, now this. Good job Florida, only you can make Mississippi and Georgia look good.
Once again we liberals find evidence that perhaps motivations behind Floridas' voter registration law, seem to be drafted and implemented with benefits for the Florida GOP establishment at the expense of common sense. Is this just an accident? I think John Oliver can give us a laugh while we figure it out. Meanwhile in Texas while the GOP responds to mounting fears of illegal aliens illegally voting, other groups lament the lack of turnout among Hispanics who can legally register and participate in elections. The Link
So you post something from Jon Stewart and expect it to be taken seriously? I think you are the only human being in the world that watches Jon Steuart.
I may file suit on behalf of Mickey and Minnie mouse as this clearly discriminates against cartoon characters to say nothing of all the fine dead people in Florida.
I guess my point is Cedar Park, that fears of widespread voting by illegal aliens seems a little bizarre as they are mostly a subset of the population that has shown too little desire to vote or participate. We are responding to a conjured-up "threat" by making it harder for people to register to vote. You don't have to be a Democrat to wonder if the actual intent behind the rules is simply to make it harder to register and vote. I guess if we had airport-like security screenings to shop at 7-11, it would reduce robberies, but the hassle factor would reduce business. If the government started mandating airport-like security screenings at 7-11s in a time and place where such robberies weren't happening much, you might well suspect they are more interested in decreasing business at 7-11 than deterring robbery.
And you might also wonder why liberals were so up in arms about the same number of votes back in the Bush-Gore election... but I guess in that case it was THEIR votes that weren't being properly counted. Lesson for the day: spending massive amounts of money to chase votes that may or may not have been miscounted is OK when you're a democrat, but not when you're a republican.
No one can say how many drug users opted not to apply for benefits, knowing that they would be screened. If drug-testing proactively cleans up the applicant pool, so much the better. DCF notes that failed drug tests can trigger deeper household investigations into possible child abuse and money mishandling by recipients -- also a worthwhile by-product.
^ So where does it stop with those receiving government assistance? Do you want to drug test college students at public universities- their loan and grant money goes to drugs everyday, and I'm willing to bet at a higher rate than welfare recipients. And what these people on food stamps can buy with food stamps isn't any better than an oz of weed. They can buy all the ho-hos and honey buns in the world, but a fresh salad at the salad bar is off limits? That's more bothersome to me than the drug testing policy.
