Wrong again. It was headline news before, and it would have been headline news now even lacking the 3 mayors. That you weren't aware of the past history is literally ignorance: it is an observation, not name-calling. The mayors are wrong, but then let me ask again: what is it about politics that you don't understand? That the mayors are wrong doesn't mean that CFA and its patrons aren't wrong in some way as well.
What do you think it means? Now is as good as time as any for you to do your first thinking of the day. Try thinking on your own. Stop asking to be told what things mean.
There is no value in tradition, history, or anything sacred by the left. You must blindly embrace the "anything goes" mentality in order to avoid being viciously attacked verbally and otherwise. If they want civil unions so they can designate another individual to cover with insurance, etc. that's fine. Come up with a name for it. The institution of marriage, defined as one man and one woman, has been around over 4 thousand years. Can we not value that and keep it sacred? If we keep playing out this "progressive" and "anything goes" society then why shouldn't I be able to marry my sister if we're both consenting adults? What about marrying my mother? Are you so disgusted by that? No more so than society would have been about two men or two women 50 years ago.
Interracial marriage was illegal through most of the South until 1967. If you would have asked many around that time and a little early for the justification, they would have given many of the same responses given here in regards to gay marriage. Those laws were wrong, and I and many others believe that the prohibitions against same-sex marriage are also wrong. I have to run so I'll keep it short, but to make one more point, I disagree that "liberals" or same-sex marriage supporters have an anything goes philosophy. For me personally and friends who also support expanded marriage rights, it is much more thought out than that. I still hold that marriage is a sacred commitment between two people that should be honored. I think adultery is wrong, and marriage should be for life. I'm disappointed when friends just carry on relationships without commitment. I find the divorce rate and the ridiculous wedding industry troubling. A lot of those views are traditional. However, along with those views, I also believe that if two consenting adults want to engage in a union of commitment, that will inflict no ill on society or others but rather strengthen society, which has been a part of humanity since the beginning of recording history, then we have no basis to discriminate because of sexual orientation which they were born with. Also, I like Chik-Fil-A and will keep eating their when the opportunity presents itself.

NEWDOC is spot on. If ChikFilA is refusing service to gay people then this is an entirely different matter. I have not heard of one example of anything remotely close to that.

Open up any book on civil rights or racism in the south to find verification of my claim. Blacks were viewed as inferior interracial marriage wrong and a sin. I firmly believe that in 40 years our views on gay marriage will have changed in a similar way to views on interacial marriage. Shiner, at some point this debate became about how gay marriage and homosexuality is wrong. My comments were responding to that. I honestly still like Chick-fl-a and while I disagree with Mr Cathy, I support his right to say it. The threats from these mayors are going way too far. A lot of the reaction from the gay community and liberals, the whole stir is probably too much and might prove counterproductive to their goals. I read.some blog or article listing the anti-gay marriage organizations CAL supports and FCA wad on there. Having grown up in a conservative part of Texas I know how faith based organizations can strengthen communities. Chick Fil A's values also benefit communities and are refreshing in the fast food industry. However, regardless of the wisdom of the reactions and counter-reactions, it gas stimulated the discussion of gay marriage and that's what I joined the thread to comment on. As for the "anything goes'/slippery slope' arguments, no one is saying no lines should be drawn with the definition of marriage. We are just saying the line should be drawn differently and include deserving same-sex couples. Incest results in children born with birth defects and coincides often with sexual abuse. Allowing incestuous relationships would cause harm to individuals and society. What harm do consensual same sex couples who want the same rights as everyone else cause?

If you support gay marriage shouldn't you then support polygamy? Polygamy was outlawed because the supreme court said that congress could limit actions that violated community social norms or subverted social order. If Adam can marry steve, then adam should be able to marry steve, eve, veronica, and jughead. If we rewrite the definition of marriage you would also have to allow polyandry, group marriage and probably bigamy.
