September 15th will be our first look at the 2012 Longhorns. There are no open practices and the first two games will be on LHN. Damn I miss pay-per-view.

Being in-state sucks, unless you have FIOS or Grande...neither of which I have. [IMG]

How hard would it be to back off a few cents per subscriber and do a deal with Time Warner?????

Why can't Time Warner or any other provider just give up a few cents profit and give ESPN what they are asking for? They would get lots of new subscribers and keep the ones they have that are Horn fans.

See, it goes both ways and it's business to a level we are not in the realm of.

Heck, I sort of feel guilty that I have Grande but only use it for my internet. I watch LHN at friends houses. I would get it and let a friend slingbox it if needed but he's not asked.

Do any of the space based providers have LHN? I am stuck with Time Warner, and I am sick of their ****** business practices. I would jump to satellite if one of them had LHN.

Not yet duck, sadly. I know that people say that the moment a company picks them up they will switch. But will they fast enough? I think once some company flinches and signs on there will be an initial burst of new subscribers but the other companies will recover quickly and also join on. Most people will be too lazy to actually switch over and forgive their current provider for not being the first one to do it.

The companies know this otherwise one of them would have given already and taken advantage of the supposed mass flow of new customers. The other channels won't just let them have it like that.

Besides, this is a big deal to us, Horn fans. It's not to the rest of the nation, it won't make enough money for a major carrier to make it worth their time. We are a big deal but not as big as we think in this.

Seems like a lot of fans are seeing less of the Horns each season. LHN is a good thing except for most fans.

I've said it before, but I remember the ABC game of the week. Game being singular, as in 1 (one). Texas was on about twice a year, not counting the bowl game. Guess I'm showing my age, but I just dont understand all this sense of entitlement.

How about being overseas. I start an assignment in England on Sept 1. It's all great except for football. I think Slingbox is the best solution, but would welcome other ideas.

Yep, it sucks. Being in Chicago, getting to games is obviously difficult. Since we are not allowed to watch UT football until the 15th, I hope there are various internet feeds (like justin.tv) that will allow us to watch the games (although in crap quality).

Agssuck, this isn't 1985 any more. You wan watch almost anything you want at any time. That kind of universal availability changes expectations.

Even here in Chicago, I was able to watch every UT football game for about a 5 year stretch. Many were on pay-per-view, but we could watch. Now we can't even get pay-per-view, and have to hope for low quality internet video feeds to watch 2-3 games each season.

It isn't a sense of fan entitlement that's causing the problem. It's about setting high expectations and then failing miserably to live up to them.

Well Syracusehorn, I'm sorry. Sometimes the answer is no. Things change from time to time. Hang in there.

1985?? I was thinking more like 1965. [IMG] [IMG]

I'm with you SyracuseHorn....it sucks. I'm in Southern California and use to get every game too (some pay-per-view). I can't even gather with the other Texas Exes at the OC Sports Grill because it's not being carried on anything they have. So I'm all pumped-up and ready for September 15th!

Thats what I was thinking Blym. 99.9% of the people in chicago dont give a crap about Texas. If it were me, I would feel lucky if I ever got a UT broadcast in Chicago. Also, we have lost to baylor 2 years in a row. That in itself shows that we are irrelevant.

If Mack and the coaches get UT back up with the big boys this year or next, it will be a major accomplishment.

Every program goes through it's down year(s), but usually, it takes a whole new staff, including head coach, to get the program out of the doldrums. If Mack pulls off getting UT relevant again, he will have done something really significant before he retires.
