It is a disaster for Romney and for conservatives everywhere.

Politically, Ryan brings nothing to Romney's ticket. The Obama team is celebrating.

Fiscally, Obama/Biden or Romney/Ryan will be the death of this beautiful dream that we all shared.

What beautiful dream are you referencing? Free stuff for everyone all year long courtesy of Chinese loans and ever spiraling taxes?

Ryan is a smart pick as Romney has tripled down on the key election theme (the economy) and found a smart communicator to help him across the finish line. Ryan also brings a career of public service to the mix, which might help slightly with the private equity smearing that the Obama camp is engaging in.

He's voted to tie the hands of the federal government to negotiate the amounts charged by drug companies for the drugs that the prescription drug benefit purchases ----- while accepting huge amounts of cash from those same companies.

He LOVES subsidies for oil companies. Of course, his family benefits from those.

And on and on and on ...

If only he actually WAS the disciple of Hayek and von Mises that he claims to be!

Great VP pick. If Americans vote against Romney because they are afraid that Ryan will throw granny off the cliff, we should just go ahead and pack it in and start over. Entitlements as we know them are going to destroy this country, and Paul Ryan is one only a few people who have been talking seriously about this for years.

Watching his speech right now. It has a lot of Reagen-esque tones to it.

Overall, he sounds like a great spokesperson for Romney's general ideas . . . much better than Romney himself.

What's hilarious is the people lining up to complain about Ryan being too conservative, and that the ticket will sink as a result. The GOP just nominated for president a moderate - by anyone's definition before the actual campaigning started - and within months he's this ultraconservative that wants to roll back the clock to 1950, outlaw abortion and take away women's health care.

It does absolutely no good to name a moderate, because he will be crucified regardless. Liberals only like moderate republicans when they're not running for office.

How big is the smile on Grover Norquist's face? I like Paul Ryan and think he is a good pick. Kinda wish Mitt's introduction wasnt mistaken.

Surprise Surprise, opinions going along party lines on the West Mall.

I honestly, don't have a strong opinion where this pick will take Romney's campaign but I bet his camp did a lot more research than anyone on here.

Not saying he is perfect, but Ryan is much more of statesman than Obama or Biden. That doesn't get you far in this country today.

Maybe a liberal PAC can come up with a cartoon ad of Ryan throwing an elderly minority woman off the cliff (see Allen West ad).

What part of " if you are over 55 NOTHING will change do you BO supporters not understand?
Who of supporters of BO in here thinks Medicare does NOT need to make changes?

This is a pick that puts Romney all-in on the topics of federal spending, entitlement reform, tax policy and the economy. Barack Obama has been doing everything in his power to keep the national dialogue away from these critical issues, and he will surely try to continue doing that. Romney has just done everything he can to make this election about the important issues that face our country.

So, what is President Obama's plan for dealing with these issues?

(Expect to hear that question repeated constantly until it is satisfactorily answered)

Great pick. One of the few politicians brave enough to take on entitlement reform. The dems ads showing Ryan tossing granny off a cliff were huge failures.

No one is perfect, but he did make an honest effort at entitlement reform. So who do you suggest we vote for this election cycle? Are you going to be one of the cool kids who votes for a third party and helps the worst president in US history get reelected?

It will undoubtedly be Gary Johnson. How is this relevant to Mitt's VP choice?
