Well its a good thing Oswalt didnt take his ball and go home as he now replaces Darvish in a start tonight. I think that makes every starter but Harrison who has now been injured for at least one start.

Rangers take 2 of 3 from playoff contender Baltimore and now the lowly twinkies are in. Really need to feast on them as the red hot Rays come in after them.

A serious question, how does this team with these injuries have the best record in the AL on August 22, 2012? Wash is doing his best job overall managing this team with these issues and really deserves discussion for manager of the year in spite of some questionable in game choices, particularly involving his bullpen.

I'm with you PFD. The Rangers do have a nice (but not comfortable) lead despite all of the hurdles. That being said, they are not playing like a team that is ready to make a deep post-season run. That's what still concerns me most. The starting pitching and offense are going to have to be a lot more consistent to return to the WS (which, rightfully or wrongfully, is now the standard for this team even for those long-suffering, 40-year Rangers fans like me).

As much doom and gloom everyone has for the Rangers they have the second best record in baseball, at least the American League by a 1/2 game.

I would hate to see them when they put it all together.....

^Exactly! Half of the pitching staff has been on the DL, two starting pitchers are out for the season, and several hitters have been in prolonged slumps - and the Rangers still have the second-best record in the AL and a nice lead in the AL West.

If they (a) can get everyone healthy and (b) start hitting to their potential, they could go all the way.

    33. Thank you Twins (again) and TB.

Hambone led the way with 2-RBI in 1st. Never trailed after that. Go Rangers!!

Very nice 8-0 win. A's and Angels also won, so lead stays unchanged - but the clock has ticked off one more day in favor of the Rangers, and one less opportunity for the Angels and A's to make up some ground.

Hello win column. 8-0 vicktreeee. A 74-51 record in the West. Harry flirts with a no-hitter into the 7th - very impressive. He has won 15 games now. Beltre was HUGE htting for the cycle - his bat has come ALIVE people!

Let's get win # 3 versus the lowley Twins on Sat. [IMG] [IMG]

So far, the Rangers are taking care of business on the home stand and Beltre, who has become my favorite Ranger this year, is in quite a groove. Need another "W" tomorrow to clinch the series and keep the momentum. [IMG]

Agree about Wash as manager of the year in the AL. But, will the Rangers ever get a real batting coach?

This guy is not the real deal.

Also, we need a baserunning coach!

    32. Does this team love playing at home or what!

Beltre is a vacuum cleaner at 3rd too. He and Andrus together make a great left side.

the hitting has been incredibly up and down this year, extremely inconsistent. yes, they're hot right now, but have been very cold most of the year, with a few spikes here and there.

Dempster with second quality start in a row to get the win today. A's win too and Angels have early lead in detroit so looks like another day of turning another page in the calendar with no change in the standings.

Rangers need to go 17-19 over last 36 to get to 92 wins. A's will have to go 24-15 just to tie if Rangers can do that and Angels would have to go 25-12 (assuming they hold on tonight to win).

I know the Math doesnt' care, but the thing I look at is who is playing who during the last month. I think the Rangers play Oakland something like 7 more times. Too me, that's the key. If the Rangers split with the A's they win the division. I know it's not that simple, but it sure feels that way.

wow! obviously the drugs I'm on are not strong enough. I swear every other week I look up and the Rangers are struggling to score more than 4 runs. Except for this last 7 games, that is.
