It's going to be the kind of game where they might cross the 50-yard-line in the 4th quarter and whatever remains of the sparse crowd will say "finally." They're truly that bad. I expect a similar story to our beatdown of KU last year. Lots of running. Mistake-free football. Big hits on D. That's about it. People whining about needing LHN for it aren't going to be missing much.
This was already shaping up to be a complete beatdown of the lowly Lobo's... now the beatdown will be so bad Mack will probably take his foot off the gas at halftime and have the scrubs in most of the 3rd and 4th quarter. Problem is with a game like this, the starters need to be in there getting experience in game 2 of the season - not playing ~ one half ~ or so of ball against a very overmatched opponent. I had heard a while back that Bob Davie took the HC job of this historically bad, bad program. Anybody know why?
As South Austin posted we must first worry about Wyoming and not this distract us. Remember in 1978 we struggled against Wyoming before winning 17 to 3 and that was in Austin. Also Wyoming was 10-0 in 1950 and 1956 and in 1955 they had a good year and beat Texas Tech, Kansas State and Brigham Young. So we must be careful. Regarding New Mexico we must be careful starting next week. They may have lost their starting QB but that means they have a week and half to get another one ready. New Mexico does sometimes have their act together and this may be that year. In 1982 they were 10-1 and beat Wyoming, Texas Tech and Air Force. Also in 1964 they were 9-2 and one of the teams they beat that year was Kansas State (and you know how we have fared against KSU lately). That increases the risk. So we must be careful. But for right now let's concentrate on Wyoming. GO HORNS! BEAT WYOMING!
BIS is right of course, we must keep our focusness on Wyoming this week. I think the team is going to come out extremely fired up, focused and very sharp in taking the Cowboys apart. I expect a serious beatdown that will cause them to leave town as Cowgirls and riding their horses side-saddle
Yeah, Bill is right. We should not look ahead and lose our focusedness. But the way, I understand why Davie is in New Mexico. Mountain air, big skies, cool nights, green chile, posole, and those flat enchiladas. I'd like to spend a months there every year or two myself.
I disagree. I think we're doomed. Classic trap game. Big favorites against a team with an unknown QB? Scary, imo. Good thing it's on LHN -- I don't wanna see it. Back to Wyoming focusness . . .
South Austin has really climbed out on a limb with this prediction. Next he will claim the sun will come up tomorrow. Step back Nostradamus.
