I was there for the first two sets where Texas was dominated by the Gophers. We had no serve, no block, no fire and no desire to win.

How pathetic to see our home win streak end with this lack of effort/execution.

I'll watch high school volleyball tomorrow night so I won't be embarassed to be a Texas fan again in Gregory Gym this week-end. I'm at the point where I want to boo three Texas servers when they come to the line. These kids have been serving well on their club teams for more than seven years and suddenly they forget how to serve. A player served one ball UNDER the net.

After being defensively flat Saturday we chose to go with a revised 6-2 lineup tonight that had McNeal at Libero, Eckerman & Neal at OH playing 6 rotations, Bell and Hutson/McCage at MB, Nicole & Hannah setting and Webster playing RS subbing in for Hannah. To be clear that's taking your biggest weakness (defense) and magnifying by 100. Then you haven't been able to set to the middle or the right all year and you put a 5'10" player at OH where all your sets are going and she was absolutely eaten alive in the 2nd set. That was the most ******* retarded lineup I've seen by a Texas team since Jim Moore was the coach.

In the 3rd we reverted back to the original lineup from the first two weekends. But Minnesota literally could do no wrong every errant pass, every bobbled set...they farted sunshine. We couldn't even terminate overpasses.

The loss is on no one but Elliott for trotting out that ridiculous lineup. Congrats you just screwed your own team out of a #1 seed at the regional your hosting with that stupid lineup.

I literally did a triple take when I saw McNeal wearing the libero jersey. WTF, really? In my opinion, she is our second best attacker! I think the coach took crazy pills this morning or something.

This was not Middle Tennessee State we were facing, this was a solid Big 10 program that is ranked #14 and rising fast.

The coaching battle was between Elliott and the dude who just won the silver medal leading the USA women at the Olympics. I'll let you figure out who outcoached whom. [IMG]

Last night was very disappointing. I thought the team would come out a little bit more inspired then they were.

The coaching, I will leave that to you guys, I am a novice to the ins and outs of the different strategies.

Good thing is we get the rematch tonight against them damn Gophers!!!

    Let's Go Horns!!!! [IMG]

Execution was way better. But we can't continue to attack from the left 80% of the time or more. That's not gonna cut it.

Is there a trust factor lacking with the setters setting our middles? I know that the pass has to be good enough to utilize our middles but there were plenty of opportunities for the setter to set the middle on a good pass but they opted to go outside. Even if the set is not great, you can still utilize the middles. Shoot them a 3 set.

I really think it's the coach telling the setter to set the left side hitter if they don't receive a perfect pass.

On serve-receive, Texas does a decent job running in-system plays to side-out and that's when you'll see a more varied offense.

But in the transition game, it's completely different.

Jerritt's stats tell him that they are just as efficient hitting out-of-system balls as they are in-system in the transition game. That's why they practice more out-of-system hitting. This has been stated before in post-match videos/quotes.

Thus, the only place to go with an out-of-system ball is to the left pin and that's what we see happen in live game action.

More importantly, that's why their passing and ball control is the weakest part of their game. The back-row defenders are NOT practicing to consistently get the pass up to the setter between Zones 2 and 3 of the court where she can have multiple attack options.

Instead, the back row defenders are coached to just get the ball up and keep it in play in the transition game and rely on the efficiency of the left-side hitter to put the ball down.

That's not going to work against good ball control teams with similar terminating hitters like ours.

I appreciate the insight into the game, it helps when watching thanks.

I do have to say that Friday they looked like a different team then on Thursday.

Three games in two days coming up this weekend. I know Illinois is a solid team, what about UCF or Cincinnati? Any background on the skills of these teams?
