Right before half to "ice" Florida kicker on a 51 yarder as the ball was snapped. He kicked it, missed play did not count. They got the next one off, kid hit it, Ags lose by 3... I have never been a fan of this. Boy did it backfire today
In hindsight, it's easy to see it that way. However, if the reverse had happened and the kicker made the first attempt and missed the second, it would have been a different story.
It's easy to see it that way because that's exactly what happened. He gambled and lost. Ends up being the difference in the game.
Icing the kicker is a good strategy, statistically-speaking:The Link 80.4% of kicks are good without a timeout right before the kick. 64.4% of kicks are good when the opposing team calls a timeout right before the kick.
The TO also cost him because he had the ball one more time driving but couldn't stop the clock. Hook'em!!!
SML I've seen way more studies suggesting the opposite. That study in particular seems to have a few issues with it.
Welcome to the SEC Sumlin LOL Losing by 3 for calling a timeout You are making Aggies Natiion proud of you plus you are your Aggies football team are not holding a lead in the second half like the poor Aggies did last year.
