I saw him on the sideline dressed, but did not see him on the field. Has anyone heard his status for Baylor?? He will be a spark for the suck Defense!

I have read on other sites that he will not play again this year. I hope he gets well and can have an impact season next year.

I saw him too, but I don't think he had pads on under that jersey.

my understanding is he's been upgraded to questionable for this week. I haven't seen anything on any of the pay sites that imply that he's out for the year. The only player out for the year this far is JJ. The staff isn't even considering sitting him the rest of the year in lieu of a medical redshirt.

Hicks was in jeans, sneakers and his jersey on the sidelines just like the other injured players. Didn't see Malcom Brown(RB) at all. I hope Hicks plays too but even if he does he doesn't solve all of our issues.
Implying, as some have, that losing Hicks is the reason for our defensive woes is as absurd as me saying that if I go on vacation my company is out of business until I get back. What a croc. [IMG]

It's my understanding that in order to receive a medical redshirt, team doctors have to declare the player was physically unable to play again in ANY of the rest of UT's games.

The way the team has said lately he's getting close would directly conflict the validity of a medical redshirt. I'd assume if they planned on going that route they's declare him "out" leading up to each game. Instead he's not even "doubtful", he's "questionable". Doesn't equate to the right path for seeking medical redshirt.

As a matter of fact Hick's is listed first on the depth chart in an -OR- situation. If you want to medical redshirt a player, that would be a very unwise listing.

They could do it retroactively once we showed that he didn't play in more than 30 percent of our defensive snaps for the season, including none in the 2nd half of the year. I don't think there's any sort of requirement to show that he physically "couldn't play" as opposed to just "not playing."

I believe the Medical Hardship Waiver rule for football is no more than 3 contests or 30% of scheduled contests whichever is greater. Since UT has 12 scheduled games, then the greater # would be 3.6 games which is rounded up to 4 games. Hicks was hurt in the Ole MIss game (3rd game of the season) so if he is unable to play the rest of the year, he could qualify for an additional year of eligibility when his normal eligibility expires.

This is slightly different than 30% of the defensive snaps mentioned above. The rule is game based instead of being based on # of plays.

I sure hope Jordan can play again this season but if he can not, as least he could possibly play 2 more seasons if he so desired.

    I think they meant per-game.

What is the discrepancy with these injury reports and the depth chart. The depth chart shows HIcks, Malcolm Brown (RB), and Moore all on the depth chart this week. I would think if a guy is questionable or probably that you go ahead and leave him on the depth chart and then make a game day decision. But if a guy is not going to play, like Moore according to these injury reports, then why is he listed on there?

Sounds like the old Gundy approach. "Im a Man, Im 40, and I will keep you guessing on any injuries that we have. Mum's the word. [IMG]
