Obama Campaign: Romney Won Debate Because He Lied

According to Obama and most of his high-profile supporters, Romney was lying about pretty much every major position that he differed with Obama on during the debate Wednesday night. There is a reason why Obama and his team are panicking about this to the extent that they obviously are.
As almost everyone knows, Obama has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on negative ads targeted against Mitt Romney since last spring. Obama has done this because he cannot run on his record and the economy is still in seriously bad shape, even after four years with Obama as President. As a result, Obama's only hope to win the election is to smear and effectively destroy Mitt Romney. So Obama and his team have been trying desperately to "define" Mitt Romney as an unacceptable alternative to Barack Obama. As a result of the heavy negative ad spending and the breathtaking complicity of so many of his supporters in the media actively assisting with this effort, it was starting to look like this strategy just might work.

But then in one night - an hour and a half actually - Mitt Romney took than entire narrative apart at the seams, leaving it a pile of worthless ruble on the debate set at the University of Denver. Hundreds of millions of dollars of ad spending largely wasted and the whole Obama campaign strategy undermined and effectively worthless, at least as it applies over the next 32 days until the election.

So what we are seeing now is Obama and his team frantically trying to re-assemble their expensive and long-wrought narrative that Mitt Romney is not an acceptable alternative as President, on which Obama's campaign strategy has been based.

What Romney also did successfully during the debate is to refocus the campaign on the issues, which Obama unwittingly complied with by speaking directly to the questions and issues raised by Jim Lehrer, rather than using his time to recite his campaign's talking points attacking Mitt Romney (the 47%, the dog on the car, the boy Romney bullied in high school, etc.).

What this effectively achieved is to reestablish this contest as being a referendum on the presidency of Barack Obama. The only reason there has been any doubt about this is because of the doubt that was starting to form about the acceptability of Mitt Romney as an alternative candidate, complete with ideas of his own for dealing with our problems. The people got to hear Mitt Romney present his case directly to them during the debate Wednesday night, unfiltered by any effective spin by Obama or his campaign.

The genie is out of the bottle. There is no going back. Mitt Romney has been affirmed as an acceptable alternative by most people in this country, and there will be nothing that the Obama campaign can do to re-establish their narrative to the contrary over the next 32 days.

    Game on.

Here is an article chronicling the Democratic talking points on this by those sympathetic characters at the Huffington Post:

If his assertions were full of lies, then where was Obama to challenge them? Nevertheless, what else can Obama's campaign say? Their guy sucked *** - period. They can't just admit that. They have to come up with some kind of excuse.

Well of course he lied about everything. That has to be the explanation. There is always an excuse now isn't there. It could not possibly be that Obama got his butt kicked because his record has been a disaster. There must have been some foul play.

He didn't get his butt kicked because he's smarter than Romney. He didn't get his butt kicked because he spent so many hours studying for the debate. He didn't get his butt kicked from four years of failure. It was just a side benefit. [IMG]

I heard they are saying that Bush made him lie. That fits their narrative of the last 4 years and BO's awfulness - IT'S BUSH'S FAULT! [IMG]

It's hilarious to watch this board. Any fact boogering by the other side brings out shouts of "LIar! Liar!" while the goofs on our side are innocent mistakes understandable in the amount of stuff rolling out of a candiate's mouth.

Is everybody here just playing a game hoping their side wins or does somebody have allegiance to truth and deeper understanding?

Of course Obama didnt call Romney a liar and then explain why he was a liar DURING the debate. Cat got his tongue?

Romney probably did lie alot, but Obama has also sucked. They are perfect for eachother.

Sun Tzu said, "If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near."

Obama said, "Sun Tzu you are a liar, flip flopper and have amnesia."

Can you imagine if Obama had been defending Kuwait against Schwarzkopf, Obama would have whined and complained that Schwarzkopf's flanking maneuver west and north was a sign of a character flaw given Schwarzkopf's position in the south.

Even David Letterman seems troubled by the facts that Obama called Romney a liar and yet facts showed BO was the one lying. They can't cover for him forever, even though they will try.
