They didn't do the flyover as I dreamed they would

This is a photo I took at DKR on Saturday. I was thinking that they would do the flyover in the form of a wishbone (as opposed to the "missing man") and, when they didn't, I had to photoshop them into the "correct" position.

Wasn't at the game (daughter had a soccer game in NW Austin), but right before our soccer game started, the same jets that did the flyover @ DKR were spotted from our soccer field.. Thought it was really cool...

The flyover wasn't nearly as low as others I've seen. Sort of lessened the impact. Still cool though.

In your photoshop, could one jet have flown that closely behind another in its jetwash?

In the past, the flyover has usually occurred right at the end of the Star Spangled Banner -- that's a really great time.

On Saturday, it occurred just before the game started and the band was playing at the time. So most people weren't looking for it, and because it was so high, its sound was largely drowned out by the band.

I do agree with the previous poster that flying lower would have had more effect. But there was one a few years ago that was REALLY low and the crews were disciplined for that.

Next time, maybe an F-18 with its afterburner lit and headed to the clouds right over the stadium.

Or a B-52 with a prominent Hornfans poster as part of its experienced crew -- dropping sooners and aggies out the bomb bay doors.

It was a very light-weight flyover. No speed, and no after-burners.

In order to save money. I'm surprised Bellmont didn't arrange for a SW 737 to make its final approach to ABI over the stadium. Instant free fly-over..

I think that since 9/11 the FAA has some pretty strict rules concerning these types of flights, specifically altitudes and flying directly over things, and probably the environmentalists of Austin (bless their hearts) would have some problems with the noise. I could be wrong. But it would have been nice if there were four F-18's (Boeing products) in the formation instead of those trainers the AF uses. And I would have wanted them flown by U.S. Navy pilots. If you hadn't guessed, I'm retired from both.
