Is VY done?

Just heard the Steelers are going to sign Charlie Batch as their starter, and will bring in several qbs to work out to back him up. No mention of VY. Is he done? If so, its definitely not because of lack of talent. So what gives when a team would rather have an aging journeyman like Batch or some other Joe Bag-a-donuts qb than VY?

I wish we would hire him as a permanent Assistant Football Coach. He would be sacred no matter who the head coach is.

    Only Gruden could salvage VY.

He just seems unwilling/unable to put in the massive amount of work necessary to succeed in the NFL.
As much as it pains me to say this about Vince, journeyman QBs still in the league can likely to 4 things better than Vince.
    1. Learn the offense
    2. Execute and make wise decisions
    3. Read a defense
    4. Study film

Batch already has experience in Pitt. He was the backup the last few years IIRC.

There is a huge pool of unemployed 3rd rate quarterbacks, what makes Vince any more special than the rest?

Batch has been on the roster. He's just been injured.

He is unfortunately done.... for now. He is aging and well... he has the gift but doesn't seem to appreciate it. But hell, I am not Vince so I really don't know. He very well be a future 30 for 30 episode.

I don't think he has "the gift" any longer either.

I wouldn't completely close the book on him yet. As long as he's working out trying to get back then there's a chance he gets a call.

I have to agree with what Joe2005 said a couple of posts above. Whether it's age, injury, or inconsistency, Vince is well past the point of any team structuring their offense around him.

From what I've heard, he hasn't made the wisest financial decisions in the past. It's probably time to start thinking about a real job.

"Doesn't matter, I just think a lot here look to write him off, and I will always believe he got a raw deal in Tenn. The "opportunities" he got after that were in all honesty pretty limited."

    *sigh*

There's no need to "look to" or "try to" write him off.

Proper mindset and good attitude is everything Vince needed to learn. Even if he was in a bad situation in Tenn he should have been mature enough to understand the business, but he wasn't and isn't prepared to handle that. I think it came so easy at Texas he assumed it would be the same in the NFL and it is not the same game.....period. He couldn't make nor figure out the necessary transition.

Vince will have to prove somewhere other than the NFL that he can do it. Canada maybe. Others have succeeded there and then done well in the nfl. Warren Moon comes to mind.

Not sure what it has to do with intelligence. It's ok to support someone and respect them for what they did for the University of Texas. It's entirely different to think that translates to the NFL.
