Yes, according to the Dallas Morning News this morning. So the question is.....
after being pushed around at home by TCU, mashed by K-State this weekend,
and humiliated in the Cotton Bowl, will THAT finally be enough to make the change?
Or will insanity continue to reign? You know, doing the same things over and over
    and expecting different results.

aggy deserves better than have to play us. I dont think we are good enough to be in the cotton bowl. Is'nt that a second tier bowl. How many tier are there? We should be in the bottom tier. I dont think there is enough interest in this team so we probably wont sell our allotment of tickets. Shreveport is nice.

This team wants no part of Aggie right now. They'd humiliate us and it would be message board fodder for the rest of the year on Txags. No thanks.

I don't know why aggie would want to play an 8-4 team (us after ksu beats UT next week) on a two game losing streak. It would be a come down for them, and also a dud matchup in the cotten bowl.

Sure atm would like to whip our butts, but an even bigger slap in our face would be to reject playing us because we are an inferior team and a win against us would do nothing to propel them in the polls or national spotlight.

they would do better to beat down ou, who will likely also be 10-2, or another top 15 rated program. Why would the Cotton Bowl want an unranked Texas team to play the hottest team in TExas (geez this hurts to write) which is now Texas A&M, who just happens to have the likely Heisman winner running their team.

No one outside of Texas will watch, the ratings will be low.

I doubt this would happen. Aggy to the Capital One bowl is the more likely scenario, with Texas going to the Alamo or some other middle-of-the-road bowl.

We don't DESERVE to play aggie this year.

Nobody knows who is going to what bowl yet. It is all just speculaion.

San Antonio AgPress News guesses that aggy will get Capital One Bowl in Florida and we'll get Alamo.

Although aggy would love to add to our misery, I can't see us being matched with them in the Cotton. We don't deserve to be in the Cotton.

Really comes down to whether the Big XII gets two BCS berths which seems more and more likely with Clemson having lost last night. Barring some upsets next week Okie State seems like they will finish third with 3 losses in conference but same 8-4 record as Texas and as between the two you have to expect the Cotton will take Texas over Okie State. Now whether they take aggy over LSU is another interesting question, the SEC is pretty strong on sending teams in the order they finished and aggy finished third in the SEC west.

We would be one of the most unworthy Cotton Bowl participants, since , well Aggy of a couple years ago. Prepare the lube.

    @Trusted - yeah but then there's this:

A&M is in the SEC, has a possible Heisman Trophy winner, beat Alabama and then stomps us in the Cotton Bowl and acts like they won the Super Bowl... so then you're a 17 year old kid from Texas who is a stud athlete and all that history that you know about means nothing to him because most likely he isn't even aware of it. Which school does he pick? That's the problem that is happening right now. A&M is going vertical and have a young dynamic coach.

We have Mack and the last three years... where's the buzz? There is none.

Who ever set this up I'd like to know so I could kick their teeth in...this smells of a total set up to allow aggy to beat Texas on (yet another) down year. This is ******** if true.

This is another year that the Horns should just stay home for the bowl season. No sense in getting embarrassed a month before national signing day for football recruits. Things are bad enough already.

Hey Dillo, Mack always clings to his 'last chance to prove relevance' bowl games
and this is the next one.

i dont know that folks outside of texas would care about an A&M/UT matchup.

the numbers would be huge in state, but i dont know that anyone else would really care.

    Joe 2005,

    What Proposition Joe said. [IMG]

I don't think most of the nation cares about the UT/aggy rivalry, at least, not so soon after they went their separate ways. In 5-10 years, maybe. If both teams were highly ranked, maybe. But right now it would be viewed as a mundane, "been there, done that" match up that everyone would expect aggy to win by 30 (and they probably would).

I think UT/LSU would have some novelty as two teams who have not faced each other recently. It's not a match up you see every year.

I don't think that aggy and Okie Lite would be all that attractive, but if the Cotton Bowl is determined to get Manziel, assuming that the SEC is willing to let them be taken ahead of an LSU team that beat them head to head, they might me stuck with that match up since it's unlikely that Belmont would agree to a game with aggy.

LSU, aggy, or South Carolina would kill the Horns, as would just about anyone else bowl eligible.

If we beat KSU there would be a possibility. I don't see how we would be in the Cotton Bowl with another loss but stranger things have happened this year. Everyone thought aggy would beat us last year and didn't happen. I know the players would be up for another chance to pad the series record. No matter what that series record will stand in our favor forever.

The Cotton Bowl would be stupid to go against the wishes of the administration of one of its potential participants, much less both of them. The powers that be at both schools have no interest in this match up. I seriously doubt that the CB will be so determined to get match up of solely local appeal, between a 10-2, top 10 team and a 8-4, unranked team, that they would be willing to disregard the opinions of so many of its partners- UT, aggy, the Big XII, and the SEC. Even the aggy beat writer from your school's home town paper agrees with me.Robert Cessna: "It ain't gonna happen"
